Oh yeah…I can’t figure it out…just a week and a half ago I was ahead on my cartoon schedule, and now I am behind and playing catch-up. or is that Ketchup?
Whatever.
Well, as I am now starting to prepare for This year’s 31 Days of Pandas in December, I may…um…have to post a few encore presentations in the meantime, so I can get ahead again. If that makes any sense. It’s no wonder we are endangered.
Never fear, however! This Sunday will have a brand new cartoon, about a news story that was first brought to my attention by astute reader and noted cuppycake baker, Vicky Vladic. Several others have sent me the link as well, for which I thank you. It is always appropriate to bring any such news stories to my attention, as one never knows if someone already did or not, and this one would have been a shame to miss. And just to whet your appetite for The Panda Chronicles take on this story, here is the link to the actual story. Stay tuned for a ZooNooz exclusive on Sunday!
But now, of course it’s time for our fabulous Furry Friday Encore presentations!
not to mention…
Have a happy Fabulous Furry Friday!
Be the Bear
Bob T. Panda
I think that commercial with the pandas is hysterical. But I’ve never noticed that Chinese tourists are any ruder or any more polite than the average bear. My husband’s office is near the World Trade Center site, and the only risk run is getting slowed down by gawking tourist hordes on Broadway.
Yes, I suspect it was a bit of overkill, or maybe they wanted to try to do something as funny as the Panda Brand cheese commercials. After all, everyone loves pandas! And as I live in a tourist town (where I’ve never seen any panda tourists) it’s true that the worst thing most people do is clog up the sidewalk gawking at things.
On the other paw, how nice of them to supply me with the subject for a cartoon, don’t you think?
i have several pictures of me with yearling pandas at Wolong … i don’t post pix of myself on the net, sorry.
No apologies necessary. Lucky you, getting to romp with the pandas. I am exceedingly envious! Have you seen a recent video where one of the panda nannies is trying to give some medicine to a yearling cub? Another panda cub decided to “help” It had me howling. Glad you got to experience playing with cubbies.
Bob T., today’s creative contribution caused my physical self to laugh outloud. Ahahahaha! And after the past week that was much appreciated. Although, now for some strange reason I want to take a selfie with pandas behind me…um…that last cuppycake I ate must have been ‘speshul’…
Ha ha! Gotta watch out for those “special” cuppycakes, especially those from Colorado or Washington state. They have …um…extra added goodness. More pandas coming your way on sunday! Huzzah. Glad they made you smile.
Even brown bears love cuppycakes!
Those pandas look so cute in selfies 🙂
All bears love cupcakes. It’s how we roll.
You will not believe this, but a cuppycake store on Lexington Avenue near Bloomindale’s in NYC has a CUPPYCAKE ATM!!! I’m not sure exactly how it works, but I saw a woman with a little girl swipe her credit card in it. I assume it gives you choices and then a cuppycake comes out. What will they think of next? Too bad there are no Pandas in Manhattan
I wish I had a cuppycake ATM handy like, um…on my porch maybe. I have read of those things, but I’m glad to hear a report of someone actually seeing a live one. While there are no pandas in Manhattan of yet, it may interest you to know that there is some politician (not sure if she is a congressperson or city councilperson) who is trying to get a panda franchise for the Central Park Zoo. If they knew there was a handy cuppycake machine, that might speed up the process.
They are bringing two female brown bears who are old friends to the Central Park Zoo, so, thank heavens, they will spare any Pandas from having to live there. It is not a big zoo. Gus the polar bear was the last inhabitant. He became terribly depressed when his mate died and swam back and forth endlessly until he was given therapy. I don’t think any bears belong in that zoo.
Well, China is very particular about where they send their pandas, so I’m guessing this is a pipedream of the politician involved. I have not heard anything further since the initial news story.
Good to know about lack of suitability for bears.
