I just saw notice today of something that makes me very happy! Bill Bryson’s book, A Walk in the Woods has been made into a movie which will be released this September! For those of you who have not yet read Bryson’s hilarious account of walking the Appalachian trail, I suggest you get your furry behinds to your nearest library or bookstore and acquire a copy. Like all of Bryson’s books, AWITW contains humor, interesting facts and history, as well as a few things that can kill you.
Huzzah!
To celebrate, I share a few cartoons of bears being bears.
Be the Bear! And have a Fabulous Furry Friday!

I read “A Walk in the Woods” and laughed myself into apoplexy. We once found a pathway in the woods in Massachusetts and decided to take a walk and see how far it went. We walked and walked and finally asked someone where it ended. The answer was “Maine; you are on the Appalachian Trail” Duh! Have you read “From a Sunburnt Country”? (Australia) That one will curl your toes.
Bill Bryson’s books usually cause me to snort out loud and quote endlessly as I am reading, thus annoying everyone within earshot. Yes, “From a Sunburnt Country” is another of my favorites. He has a unique way of presenting humor and historical and scientific facts in the same book, and making it all immensely entertaining.
I still love “I can see Russia from here!” 🙂
Might have to read “In A Sunburned Country”. The few quotes I just read had me in stitches!
I loved In a Sunburned Country. You being Australian, will probably need to roll your eyes and laugh AT Mr Bryson, as well as with him. Besides pointing out all the things that can kill uou there, he really does share a lot of interesting stuff about your homeland, at least to those of us from far away. I will be interested in what you think of it.
