Editors Note: After almost four months of having cartoons done weeks in advance, I find myself finishing a cartoon mere hours before it is to go live, in order to stay on schedule. What can I say? I have been having way too much fun, what with visiting artist friends, a small gathering of the panda faithful, and then last week, a trip out of state to a writers conference/workshop.
Actually the last bit is pretty exciting, and it has some future implications for the state of panda satire. I can’t say just what may transpire, but I think something will. I’ll tell you when there is something to tell.
But in the meantime, Pinky’s baby brother Bubba Bei Bei is growing in leaps and bounds, or at least grunts and rolls. And he’s small and doesn’t take long to draw.
He’s small for now, but Bubba Bei Bei is shaping up to be a whole lot of panda!
We are all celebrating the fact that Pinky and Bubba’s panda cam has not been shut down. Huzzah! And it would be very naughty of me NOT to mention that our latest collection of The Panda Chronicles has been published and is now available on Amazon! Huzzah!

Siblings can be a problem. 🙂 and sometimes they can be the solution.
He sure is a little butter ball… Just adorable…
And turning i to more of a ball every day, in every sense of the word!
One of the perils of posting from my cell seems to be that the phone has a mind of its own, I hope this isn’t a somewhat duplicate expression of something I tried to post this morning. If it is, please, as always, feel free to ignore.
I have no doubt that Babee BubbaCubby is in training to rival his sister as a force of nature, the wide-open variety. Will sibling connection prevail, and will he evolve into a force to be used by his sister for her purposes? Clearly, the Princess Pinky is trying her mightiest (see I’m picking up Southern-speak) to persuade Bei Bei to use his powers to achieve her many goals.
Another school of thought asks, will BubbaTheCubba use his PandaPowers for the advancement of good? This would be a relief to his Mommee. Mei has had her paws full for the better part of the past two years with Pinky’s shenanigans. Or will this darling cubby-boy put his apparent determination and yet to be determined talents together for his own PandaPurposes? He sure is noisy, hungry and demanding., This little guy appears to be very in tune with his own needs and purposes. And very willing to share what they are to any one in the general area.
I suspect he will be a delightful combination of all of the above. But will he have his own version of poofing? Hey, maybe that’s why my phone misbehaves when I try to post or proof?!
The future, well, how it unfolds remains to be seen. Thinking about the possibilities for fun with Bubba, The Princess Pinky, Meihem and The Minions, makes me nostalgic. On occadion, I long for the quiet cuddleness of Mr Wu. After all, he only had ‘bentures with penguins & escaped to the circus to meet Bee, and didn’t he meet Babette too?
Bubba has yet to reveal himself to me fully. My guess is that he is less megalomaniacal than his big sister, but no less determined. Whether he will be a force for good, or a force for Pinky is yet to be determined. Mr Wu is far from gone. He is working on a project that I can’t reveal at this time, but have no fear, Mr Wu is the star he was meant to be.

BBBB: Dat’s why I do the cwunches, to make sure that my abdominawls get stwong enuf so dat I don’t have to wely on my big sista or Mommiee to turn me over! One of dese days I will get stwong enuf to get my bewwy offa da floor and I’ll be good to go!
Those are all excellent goals Bubba! Keep at it, and don’t let Pinky boss you around. Um… How would like to work on my campaign?

There is no denying that Pinky is kind of a…um…brat. I love this stage of baby pandahood. He is so round, and now over 5 pounds! Huzzah!

Gee, sounds like me teaching my little brother to say certain words. Ummm, not really.
Being the younger child, I never got to be a designated bad influence. Um..until my friends started having children. Then I got to teach them naughty words! Hee hee.

Bubba is so adorable. Like a bag of sugar crossed with a teddy bear. Love Pinky teasing him as she offered him help up! Will he be getting clothes once he learns how to sit up and crawl?
I have to wait until an appropriate outfit is revealed to me.
