On the Evening of Friday the 13th: While running errands in my car this afternoon, I heard the horrific news from Paris. It makes me so sad to know that there is so much intolerance and hatred in the world. To the people of Paris, you are living through what some of us only experience in nightmares. I wish for peace and an end to violence. It feels strange to inhabit my insular little world filled with pandas while you are under attack. The only thing I know how to do is to continue attempting to bring beauty and laughter to the world. Be the bear.

According to the inestimable Janet Reid it is “Party with Your Bear” day tomorrow. I’m sure she wouldn’t make that up. Pass the cuppycakes.
This reminds of the time when I was a kid and I told my little sister the purple bird poop on my Dad’s car was grape flavored. I never told her to taste it. I guess I deserved that beating.
With a history like that, I’m surprised Pinky hasn’t offered you her Chief of Staff position. I don’t have a memory of it, but the family history tells a story that while I was peacefully sitting in my high chair, minding my own business (more foo!) my brother dumped a glass of orange juice over my head. Perhaps he can confirm or deny.
Love this cartoon! (Of course I can’t remember any that I haven’t loved.) Remember that even in the worst times in history there were pockets where folks lived peacefully in the midst of it and made art and music and love. And we should not feel guilty about this, but should say (and forgive my spelling) Baruch Hashem.

Thank you for the reminder that “weRALL endangered,” which has certainly been proven true in Paris. I’m so glad that I printed the original cartoon and still have it on my refrigerator to remind myself that we need to be kind and take care of one another.
Yes, be kind, be kind, be kind….I might mention that to Pinky as well. Or maybe not. Glad you are here ahringing some laughs with me here. The events of the week are yet another reminder to treasure the peaceful moments in life.
I’m 7 years older than my own Di Di (baby brother), so this brings back cherished memories. I love it! I REALLY love how you drew poor little Bubba! Such an excitable boy! I needed a good, hearty laugh and a visit to this wonderful world you draw for us. Thank you.
More than one person has commented recently that the panda faces are getting more expressive. I can almost hear bubba shrieking in the last panel. I have to admit that drawing him that way is WAY too much fun. Glad I could provide a little light, when the world feels way too dark.
Pinky is such good sister, she’s just trying to keep Bubba from getting overweight…plus if Bubba develops a distaste for cuppycakes with frosting, that means more cuppycakes for Pinky !!
