Oh My ears and whiskers! Here we are on day 27

I realize I have a drawing to make up as I took Christmas day off (oh, WHAT a slacker!) but I will get caught up this weekend.  I was a little late getting todays drawing to you as I had to take the aforementioned errant iMac to the doctor today, as the candles and sacrifices were no longer working.

Meanwhile, while I wasn’t even watching, the “page view count” for the entire existence of this blog reached 50,000!  Huzzah!   Thank you for making my new years wish come true.  Well, I have other wishes, but they are not of the frivolous pandish sort, so this is probably not the time or place for them.  Although, if anyone has an inside track with any divine beings, I have a friend who could use a little help right now.  Just askin….thanks.

And now for today’s drawing, “TIME for Cuppycakes!”

"OH cuppycake, we could have a wonderful time together."

“OH cuppycake, we could have a wonderful time together.”

Now about those new years resolutions the panda kindergarten is supposed to be writing….

It’s Christmas Eve…Day 24 and “All I Want for Christmas, is Wu!!!!!!”

It’s Christmas Eve and all the little panda kindergarteners are snug in their beds, hoping that Pandy Claws will come down the chimney with lots of gifts, conveniently overlooking how very NOT good they have been this past year.  Do we need to count the ways?  I think not…we are hoping that Pandy Claws will overlook one …or …um…3,679 slightly naughty things they have done this year.

Those of us who are devoted to pandas have already gotten one very big gift this year, and that is of course our “little gift”  Xiao Liwu, affectionately called “little Mr. Wu” by those of us who love him and would like to get our hands on his furry little patootie…oops.  Excuse me…I get carried away when thinking of his cute Wu self.  So today’s cartoon is dedicated to Mr. Wu.

Leaping out of his holiday wrapping, we want to take this little gift home with us!

Leaping out of his holiday wrapping, we want to take this little gift home with us!

I’m taking tomorrow off from posting, but I’ll be back with more pandas on Wednesday!  You may have noticed that Mehitabel has been taking some time off from the pandas, but rest assured she is well and will be back in January to whip those panda kindergarteners into shape!

We do not forget the sadness we all felt earlier this fall when the new cub of our beloved Mei Xiang, did not survive this fall.  No one said being an endangered species was going to be easy.  We love our smallest bear in San Diego no less, and perhaps a bit more, than we might have otherwise.  To those of us who are having a less than jolly holiday, we hope we  pandas have lightened the darkness just a little at least. There is much in the world both at large and personally that makes us wonder if there will be light after all the darkness. Keep the faith, and be the bears.  I couldn’t do it without you.

Be the Bear,

Bob T. Panda

While the world did not end, there is always room for…

Prognosticating Pandas, and perilous perpetrations of perfidy.

As you can see, today’s cartoon comes to us courtesy of the letter “P”

Perchance to ponder?

The Great, All Seeing, Bob the Magnificent, sees cake in his future! Alas...he did not foresee the panda kindergarten!

Day 20 Look Out! The End of the World Approaches!!!!

OK, do we believe the whole Mayan-Calaendar-End-of-the-World-Scenario or what?  I don’t think I do, but just in case, I won’t bother to do my laundry and yes, I will have another piece of cake, thank you very much!

I really hope it doesn’t end (and just between you and me, I don’t think that it is is going to) because I really want to meet the cute Wu self down in San Diego next spring!  But pandas take no chances when apocalypse threatens…see for your cute Wu self in a cartoon we call….:

Beware the Ides of December…

It is day 15 of the 31 days of pandas. The nation mourns the terrible tragedy that happened at a Connecticut elementary school yesterday, and those of us in the humor fields are no exception. Darby Conley of “Get Fuzzy” fame did a heartfelt, but still in character, drawing of his lead characters.  It really got the message across. Here is my contribution.

Hope it helps a little…

Loss and lamentations....

Hope you hug your inner panda today, not to mention everyone you love.

It was the 14th day of December…..

Today, as promised, there is a full, feature length cartoon for your panda-ing pleasure, but before we get to that, there is an announcement from our sponsor, The Institute for Contemporary Panda Satire and Leaping Panda Press.  (It is a very fun thing about the internet, that you can just declare you are something or someone, come up with some spiffy computer graphics and voila`! You are now The Institute for Contemporary Panda Satire, and before you know it, everyone just accepts that as fact.  Is this cool or what?)

As you probably know, the first collection of cartoons from the Panda Chronicles was just published and as faithful readers of the blog, you deserve a little something extra in your Christmas stockings.  Until the 31st of December, you can now order The Panda Chronicles Book 1: Your Brain on Pandas  here  and get a discount of $2 per copy by using this code:

Meanwhile, here is today’s feature length cartoon!   Huzzah!

What do you MEAN I didn't win?

What do you MEAN I didn’t win?

And speaking of Kickstarter (wait, who was speaking of Kickstarter, There is a fun project with just under 48 hours to go from a fellow cartoonist who has created a dry erase refrigerate magnet comic strip, so you can write your own dialog.  He has a last “stretch goal” and if he reaches it, he’ll make a bunch of his magnet cartoon strips to donate to Boston Children’s Hospital.  What a good guy!  Check out his project here!

Day 13 of 31 days of pandas…kind of symmetrical, don’t you think?

What could be more appropriate to illustrate the letter “K” than KINDERGARTEN?  And by that we mean, the PANDA Kindergarten, of course!  Huzzah!

And is that young master Wu, as a new kindy-gartener? I do SO hope the rest of the P.K. don't teach him any bad habits!
