This past week, we celebrated the birthdays of Bebe Maurice and Fleur and Snowy! Here is a selection of ‘toons about them before we get down next week, to the serious business of celebrating the DC panda cubs!
#ClapLouder!
Gee, I guess I don’t have very many ‘toons with Fleur and Snowy! I’ll have to work on that! Also I never finished the story when Babette came to be their governess. Oopsie!
Well, Hopefully this will hold you till I start the Pinky-stravaganza next week!
Before we begin with today’s ‘toon archive presentation, I thought I would reveal the answer to the riddle posed in last Thursday’s ‘toon post. I asked if people could identify the painting and painter that Bebe Maurice was reprising, with his petite zizzies as his models.
It was, of course, John Singer Sargent’s Carnation, Lily, Lily, Rose, or as one of our alert readers revealed from some writings of Mr. Sargent, he referred to it as Damnation, silly, silly, pose. He has a point, I guess, but it has remained one of my all time favorite paintings, by one of my favorite painters. And it really ought to be done with pandas! The painting resides at London’s Tate Britain, along with many other works by Sargent.
Aren’t you glad I didn’t sleep through ALL my art history classes?
I also wanted to share my method for covering N95/KN95 masks, to make them more fun to wear. It requires no sewing ability, but sharp scissors are very helpful:
Now for some ‘toons while we celebrate May Day!! While we are in Art History mode….
And from deep in the archives, even Bob had some artistic tendencies!
Proving once again, that I have not frittered away 7 years of Art School!
Be the Bear! Bob T Panda
Happy May Day, and to all the organizing Starbucks workers, happy International worker’s Day!
I still don’t know where this story is going, but I found my way into it a bit more. When we left the Panda Chateau, Bebe Maurice’s Maman had just received a mysterious letter from an applicant to be a governess to Fleur and Snowy….
Extra credit if you can identify the painter and painting that B. Maurice is reprising here.
Yes, yes, yes, we are still in our Year in Review, but first, some ground shaking news from The White House:
There is now a cat living in The White House once again!!!!
I know Mehitabel is already making plans to have Willow here for an interview with ZooNooZ. I’m sure she is very busy getting settled in, as is to be expected! We will have her here as soon as possible. After all, there are the Lunar New Year’s celebrations as well as the Panda-O-Lympics to get through!
And now, on with the Year in Review, continued!
July 2021
Meanwhile, events at the Panda House are still a little…um…weird.
On to August! Bebe Maurice gets to work on the family portrait!
Will Mister Poppee return for Bikkie’s first Birthday?
There will be another Year in Review post to come. And some other things happening during the week, don’t ask me what!
I was going to write a longish post today, but the wind is whipping the trees around and just in case the power goes out, I better get today’s ‘toon posted!
Welcome to the Pandas of France!
I will have to wait until Sunday to post the Fleur and Snowy Felties!
Keep your fingers crossed that the power doesn’t go out. I’ve already ground coffee!
Bebe Maurice will have his paws full trying to get everyone to sit still and pose for this Pawtrait. I hope he can paint fast! The birthday season is barely a week and a half away! And Bikkie is bereft of his Beary Poppins. Will the dashing duo make it in time for the party?
I’m listening to a podcast story (What a Day!) and they are relating a news story about a guy who was so rude on an airplane (physically assaulting two flight attendants) that the flight crew duct taped him to his seat.
I have questions!
Did they gag him too? If so, was it before or after he yelled something on the order of “Do you know who my parents are?” And can we do this to certain members of Congress who insist on saying stupid things, while interrupting the legislative process?
Hey! I’m just asking questions!
But meanwhile at the Panda House…
Stay ‘tooned next week for the next exciting episode of The Panda Chronicles!
