Day 14 ~ 31 Days of Pandas

Whew! We survived Friday the 13th (not to mention the marathon hearing in the House Judiciary chambers.) To be honest, I did not watch or listen to that hearing. My capacity to listen to the republican naysayers yelling about how this was all totally unfair and besides, nobody can impeach the “president” except for the “president”!!! Otherwise it is a COUP!!!!

Yeah, um…no.

So, I’m getting ready to watch the entire House vote on impeachment, and to take to the streets the night before! Don’t forget to call or email your Rep in Congress and tell them what you think, whether you are for or against impeachment. (Not that anyone reading THIS blog is against it, but hey, I’m willing to listen to calm, well reasoned arguments *)

*provided you have actually read the Constitution and what it has to say about impeachment and the respective powers of the executive and legislative branches of government,

We are more than 1/3 of the way through 31 Days of Pandas! How can we stand the excitement? Maybe we should sit down and have a cupcake or three, till we regain our equilibrium.

Huzzah! It’s the final installment of Pinky in Wonderland! Six whole episodes! Tomorrow we’ll be back with a brand new ‘toon, a story that will (hopefully) bring you some joy. It is a short fable for panda lovers everywhere, but especially fans of the National Zoo.

But first, here is the dramatic conclusion of Pinky in Wonderland.

Oh my! Day 8 of 31 days of Pandas is upon us!

Panda Socks are (mostly) all in the post, and some have even arrived! Huzzah! But now, let’s not waste another minute obsessing about whether this is the end of democracy, the beginning of the end for Mittens, or the end of the beginning!

Happy Caturday! For those of you who serve cats, congratulations! While my feline overlord has gone to her reward (unlimited tuna and no one bothering her, one might guess) I look forward to the day when once again I can hear the pitter patter of thundering paws. How an animal so small can make so much noise is beyond me!

But enough about cats! It’s time for more of Pinky in Wonderland!

How’s ebbryone doing? I was remarking to one of my FB friends, that it was kind of funny that me, a 60’s hippie/counter culture type, was fan girl-ing over all these constitutional law scholars and former US Attorneys. Anyone want to join me in the Joyce White Vance fan club? I appreciate her sane demeanor, knowledgeable discourse, not to mention, she explains things in a way people like me (not a lawyer) can understand.

Day 4- 31 Days of Pandas

It’s Day 4 of 31 Days of Pandas! The panda socks have arrived, and I’m going to spend this evening  packing and organizing (and then watching movies and felting pandas!) Tomorrow there will be another new ‘toon and then on Friday, there will be more from Pinky in Wonderland.

The post about the lions that ate the rhino poachers showed up on Twitter this week, so I thought that today’s encore presentation could be this series from The Animal Justice League!

Happy Friendsgiving

It’s time for that holiday that is celebrated in the good old US of A, you know, the one where you get together with family you don’t particularly want to see, argue with Uncle George about what the current “resident” of the WH is really up to, the one where you eat way too much of food you don’t really like and then it’s time for PIE!

Once I moved far, far from home, and got to have this holiday extravaganza with friends of my own choosing, my attitude changed somewhat. (I do like pie, and why doesn’t anyone still make the sweet potato casserole with melted marshmallows on top?) I continue to be thankful for spending time with people I love.

Princess Pinky says, she is thankful for cuppycakes and da panda kindygarten and her magical wand!

And now we know about all the cultural/genocidal implications of our first National Holiday, which I won’t get into here, but need to be acknowledged. That makes celebrating this holiday kind of cringe-worthy, and yet…

I think it is a good thing to be thankful for the many things that have come our way. If we can separate the history of white europeans invading these shores, and all that followed afterward (because, if you aren’t an indigenous person, you are an immigrant no matter how many generations ago your ancestors got here) I think that is okay to have a holiday in which we acknowledge what we are thankful for.

So here’s a list of some of the things I’m thankful for:

Good health
A home of my own
Trees that surround my house
Pandas
People who appreciate (and buy!) my art, my writing and panda satire
Did I remember to mention pandas?
Friends who like to visit pandas

I could go on!

Coffee tastes better when you have it with Pinky!

But meanwhile, it’s time to get ready for 31 Days of Pandas!!!!

That’s something we should all be thankful for! As we head into full on impeachment mode, we may be watching, in real time, the 45th “president” of these here United States dissolve, self destruct, maybe even burst into flames in front of our very eyes! We are going to need all the funny we can get if we want to get through this alive!

We hardly got to know you…

I know everyone is still feeling very sad, at the departure of our “little bear”. It has been bittersweet, what with all the posts on Twidder and Fezbook of Bubba when he was weally widdle. Hopefully, another round of ‘toons of Bubba’s childhood along with the trials and tribulations of being the little brother to an international super star and Smifsonian Icon, will make everyone just a little less sad.

Thanks for all who posted the pictures of him in his new home. I really loved the BFX base. We spent 2 days there visiting pandas. The yards are large (at least as large as Bubba’s yard back home) and full of mature trees. From the pictures, it looked like many of the trees in his yard did not have tree guards, so he gets to do his favorite activity, climbing. While he had a similar reaction as Pinky had to his first introduction to panda bread, he seems happy about all the bamboo shoots!

And then there was the day he had to figure out what to wear for his debut…

How IS this different from Pinky’s normal bossiness?

Funny how Pinky sneaks in to almost all of Bubba’s ‘toons!
