What could be more Fabulous than Friday?

Next week we take a look at The Giant Panda Zoo Awards ceremony and all your favorite pandas will be there! Will Pinky attempt to wrestle the gold medal for Panda Personality of the Year away from her cousin, Princess Dumpling? Does Babette de Panda have something up her haute couture sleeve to disrupt the ceremony? What skullduggery will Inspector Panda and his very clever assistant Mr. Wu uncover? Did Mei Xiang hide Pinky’s magical wand so she can’t…um…make adjustments to the awards?

Stay tuned till Sunday, when all will be revealed. We thought we would share some of Pinky’s triumphs and moments of glory to get you in the mood.

Have a Fabulous Furry Friday! And don’t forget, your purchase of all of the Panda Chronicle Books (and Pandamorphosis) helps to keep the panda satire coming your way. Not to mention that you can have panda fun at home seven days a week. Huzzah!

And, if you love the artwork of Pandamorphosis, prints of all the major images from the book are available from my page at The Gratitude Gallery website. Check ’em out! You might also enjoy visiting some of our friends, pandas and not, from our Pandas Love Links page. Tell em we said “Hi!”

Breathe Deeply! It’s Fabulous Furry Friday

I thought after Wednesday’s encounter with the panda kindergarten, Bob needed to chill to a bit and embrace his inner panda.

Nothing like a bit of the great outdoors to straighten up the panda kindergarten.

Fabulous, Furry, and Friday

What could be better? For those of you who are new in these here parts, Friday is the day we…um…relax a little bit and present a few pages from our vast archives of panda satire. But hmmmm…what to post, what to post…..?

Because I'm thinking about cupcakes.....

Friday is also the day we take the opportunity to remind you that you can have pandas at home…well, not real pandas of course, but the pandas of The Panda Chronicles are ready to step off the screen and into a book that you can hold in your very hands, and your purchase helps to support the art of Panda Satire. Huzzah for you!

For fans of Pandamorphosis, I’d like to remind you that you can find prints of some of the drawings from the book over at The Gratitude gallery of Fine Balance Imaging.

31 Days of Pandas: Day 5

Oh the suspense is building! The Case of The Picturesque Panda is rocketing to it’s dramatic conclusion sometime this month! (We don’t know exactly when, because, quite frankly, we really don”t know entirely where this story is going.)  But one thing you can be sure of, there will be pandas, cuppycakes, and at least several cases of bears behaving badly!

As we near the end of our first week of 31 Days of Pandas, we are happy to report that we are not yet behind in our panda-ing to the masses! We hope that if you are enjoying these comics, that you will share them with your friends, whether you tweet them, post on Facebook, or print them out and *chase people down in the grocery store and don’t let them leave until they read them all and tell you how funny they are, or until their ice cream starts to melt.

(* I’m kidding about this, don’t get arrested, ‘kay?)

Hmmm...it seems that Babette de Panda has enlisted some hence-pandas. They look just a liddle bit familiar...

Hmmm…it seems that Babette de Panda has enlisted some hench-pandas. They look just a liddle bit familiar…

And while this is the season to…um…buy stuff, consider that prints from our book, Pandamorphosis would make a lovely gift (for others, as well as for yourself).  16 different images are now available in several sizes from The Gratitude Gallery of Fine Balance Imaging.  They have all of my available images on their website on my very own page. (And they are very nice people!)

What would YOU wish for?

Inspector Panda will be gathering his thoughts over the weekend, but will return on Monday with the next installment!  Stay tuned tomorrow for the scandalous expose` of one of kiddie lit’s most beloved characters!

Recap Lucky #13

Yep, today is the last day of our recaps for The Case of The Picturesque Panda! We will be relaxing tomorrow (well, actually, we will be madly trying to get a day or two ahead for 31 Days of Pandas) so no post tomorrow. Sunday we will return with a brand new cartoon for you, my loyal fans! Huzzah! Monday begins the new episodes of The Case of the Picturesque Panda, which I think will run Monday through Friday, with a variety of other cartoon features on the weekends.

There were certain pandas, who we shall not name, who protested a feature that they were not the star of, being run every day. I think you get my drift and know to whom I refer.

And without further fanfare, here is the last recap of:

Recap #3: The Inspector Panda Mysteries

We’re back with the next recap of The Case of the Picturesque Panda, Inspector Panda’s latest (and hopefully more successful than his other) case. Starting with Wednesday’s post, the recaps will run Monday through Friday, taking the weekends off, as we prepare for 31 Days of Pandas, aka PanDaWriMo.

But first, I want to share another Kickstarter project that the Panda Advisory Board thinks worthy of your attention.  When I was doing my Kickstarter project to bring you the first volume of The Panda Chronicles: Your Brain on Pandas, there was another project that was on at about the same time, which I backed. It was the Kerfluffles Marshmallow projects, and as a bear who enjoys sweet treats, the idea of homemade fluffy goodness was too much for a panda to resist. Plus, when I commented on the project, using my pandy persona, Spring revealed her daughter’s fondness for pandas, they supported my project, and another pandy connection was formed.

Kickstarter, at it’s best, is not only a way to raise money for a project. It can also create connections, loyal fans and followers, and maybe even lifelong community among creative folks.  I like to share my most favorite projects with those who have supported me, when I think the project is something special. I especially like to share these worthy projects when the project creator is extraordinary as well. The Gamer Fuel Cookbook is one of these projects.

kickstarter update #2 100 res

Spring Barnickle and her husband and family created the Kerfluffles Marshmallow project. It was meant to be a modest project, only planning to raise a small amount of money, to test the waters for a home grown business. Instead of raising $2,000 with a few hundred supporters, the project raised over $100,000, with over 2600 supporters. Huzzah, you might think, right?

Not so fast, my panda compadres!

The tsunami of backers changed the entire scale of the endeavor. Instead of a product fulfillment that could have been accomplished in a couple of weeks in a rented commercial kitchen, suddenly it was a full scale business needing a commercial space, specialized equipment, employees, permits, food handling inspections, and god knows what else. It also changed, because of many more fluffy delectable marshmallows to produce and ship, the expected delivery dates.

Most of their backers were understanding. “Hey, whenever they get here will be fine” was my feeling. A few unhappy vocal backers were not so understanding, and every time I read a comment from one of these people, it was all I could do to restrain myself from..um…being a bear and ripping them a new one.

But they got their kitchen up and running, their website was beautiful, and fluffy nuggets of goodness were flowing out into the world.

Then disaster struck. A fire in another part of the commercial building destroyed the entire structure, destroying everything they had worked for. Everything was gone.

Having lived through a fire myself, I remember the feelings of desolation and hopelessness. But these are not the kind of people that will remain defeated. No, like a phoenix they are rising from the ashes with their love of food, creativity, and might I add, pandas, to create The Gamer Fuel Cookbook project. I hope you’ll check it out and join me in supporting them.

And now, how about some pandas!

Oh, that Mr Wu is a clever little bear! Is Madame du Panda trying to pull a fast one?

Friday already?

Fabulous Furry Friday seems to roll around faster and faster, doesn’t it? Hmmmm. we seem to be in a Pinky and Meihem twins mode this week, so lets just continue with that line of thought.

This cartoon was inspired by one of my friends (now in real life) Judy Young, of the infamous Pinky fan club, who gather sometimes daily at the National Zoo to observe the actual Bao Bao Princess Pinky panda, mostly climbing up the dreaded hemlock, but sometimes frolicking for the pandarazzi.  The photo that inspired this was not of Pinky, playing with bubbles, but a group of children having a blast blowing gigantic bubbles and chasing them over the grass. I though Pinky would enjoy this activity.

Oh dear....are you going to leave her there?

Oh dear….are you going to leave her there?

The next cartoon was inspired by an internet quiz, “What Kind of Cuppycake are You?” That’s easy.  One that’s got lots of …um…frosting.

I have extra frosting!

Pinky will be back on Sunday! Don’t keep her waiting!

Fabulous Furry Friday is Back!

Oh yeah…I can’t figure it out…just a week and a half ago I was ahead on my cartoon schedule, and now I am behind and playing catch-up. or is that Ketchup?

Whatever.

Well, as I am now starting to prepare for This year’s 31 Days of Pandas in December, I may…um…have to post a few encore presentations in the meantime, so I can get ahead again. If that makes any sense.  It’s no wonder we are endangered.

Never fear, however! This Sunday will have a brand new cartoon, about a news story that was first brought to my attention by astute reader and noted cuppycake baker, Vicky Vladic. Several others have sent me the link as well, for which I  thank you. It is always appropriate to bring any such news stories to my attention, as one never knows if someone already did or not, and this one would have been a shame to miss. And just to whet your appetite for The Panda Chronicles take on this story, here is the link to the actual story. Stay tuned for a ZooNooz exclusive on Sunday!

But now, of course it’s time for our fabulous Furry Friday Encore presentations!
