Oh My Goodness, I forgot it was Fabulous Furry Friday!

See what happens when I try to get some actual work done? I forget all about my duty to provide and perpetrate panda satire upon the world. What was I thinking?

While the nation still waits for someone to turn the NZ panda cam back on, you can relax, sit back, and get a dose of panda satire to get you through the weekend. I shall now dive into the archives, and see what looks funny this evening.

“You are right and Wu is wrong…I’ll never do it again, mommy.” Perhaps Mr Wu should have thought of this before he shut down the government.

I just heard tell that the 2014 Winter Olympics are right around the corner, and that means this years torch bears will be back in action!

Recent reports of the continuing survival of Tao tao, an actual panda, raised in a semi wild area and released to the wild, is alive and well, and adjusting to life as a wild panda.

Wowee, a big day at the Panda Chronicles just because I shot my mouth off. There are (and will continue to be) some who disagree with me. It’s not only the role of cartoonists to entertain; sometimes we have to poke gentle fun at people and events we think need poking. Sometimes it gets us in trouble, and sometimes people who don’t agree stop listening, and that’s OK. Art is about expressing what the artists feels, not saying just what they think people want to hear, which would be tough, since there are many points of view. Just sayin.

Now let’s have some fun, relax and embrace our inner pandas, ‘kay?

Once again, we predict reality on Fabulous Furry Friday.

It was bound to happen, sooner or later! As you may recall, we launched the idea of a panda clan tartan a full two weeks before the Edinburgh Zoo announced that they had commissioned one.

And now, British Airways has painted one of their jets just like the one that I drew more than 4 years ago, for PandAir Airlines, the only airline run by and for pandas. How do you like them cuppycakes?

…and most of all, don’t panic.

I rest my case.

You’ll notice the older, less polished style (and very poor image clean-up skills, I might add) of the cartoon, which makes my point, I said it first. Really, all these corporate entities should check with me before they launch these things!

Oops...International Talk Like a Pirate Day was yesterday…sorry, but it was so much fun, I didn’t want to stop!

Since you had a big bonus day yesterday, I’ll just publish a small encore presentation. (If you missed it, you’ll want to see yesterday’s post for the full Mr. wu’s Pirate adventure!) It’s Fabulous Furry Friday. Let’s Embrace Our Inner Pandas

Sigh…as a middle aged panda sometimes it’s hard for me to get in the entire 16 – 18 hours of sleep I require, (although not so hard to get in that 40-80 pounds of bamboo and cuppycakes that a panda needs. A bear must set priorities!) Occasionally there is something that intrudes into my head, and keeps me from sleeping soundly.

I don’t usually stray into commenting on political thingies. Out here in the bamboo forest, I can usually sing lalala I can’t hear you, and go about my business, completely untroubled by any reality in the world beyond the edge of the forest.

Maybe Pandas DO have a better idea…..

But the bickering and obstructionizing that is going on in Congress is just too much for even a panda to ignore. Is it possible that you all could act in the interest of the country, instead of maintaining your stance of if it’s YOUR idea, we don’t want to do it? Huh? Could we possibly agree that affordable healthcare for everyone is a good idea? Is it conceivable that putting the country back to work is something that would benefit everyone? Let’s embrace our inner pandas so that we can get on with stuff. Pandas are standing by to take your calls.

Editors Note: I seem to have unleashed a firestorm of discontent over my story line to let Mr. Wu run away to join the circus in the company of the panda kindergarten. What was I thinking? Well, I was thinking that as Mr. Wu has been growing up and getting more adventurous, that it was the natural next step in a young panda’s life. What little panda wouldn’t be tempted by the bright lights and the roar of the crowd? Who amongst us hasn’t wanted to run off and join the circus at some point in our young life?

Fear not! Mr. Wu will come home safely from his adventure, but not just yet. I can promise you that. In the meantime, Le Cirque du Pandet is waiting…..

Who wouldn’t want to run off and join this circus?
