The Impeachment proceedings are heating up! I overheard this “actual discussion” on Twitter*

**Possibly paraphrased*

GOP: You have to hold a vote on impeachment or it’s not real!
DEMS: No we don’t. It says in the Constitution that if we say it’s an Impeachment investigation, that’s what it is.
GOP: We will hold our breath and scream and kick our feet until you do!
DEMS: Go Ahead.

Some time passes, with many revelatory closed door hearings…

DEMS: Now that we’ve had out investigation, we’re going to hold a vote, so we can agree on rules and procedure for the public hearings and reports.
GOP: See? we knew you had to hold a vote!
DEMS: It’s for the next phase of the inquiry and hearings. It has nothing to do with whether there the previous hearings were a legitimate impeachment inquiry.
GOP: FAKE FAKE FAKE FAKE! WITCH HUNT! LALALALA WE CAN’T HEAR YOU.
DEMS: sigh..first witness…

Yes, we are repeating that October tradition of re-running The Wizard of Wu, one of my favorite Wu stories! I remember as a kid, before you could watch whatever you wanted when ever you wanted, that we would wait for the annual re-broadcast of The Wizard of Oz. The flying monkeys always scared the crap out of me, but I had to watch. what if Dorothy didn’t get away from the witch this time? What if Toto ran off and never came back?

…It means it’s time for our favorite spooky Halloween Season Classic Encore Presentations!!! Yes that’s right! It’s time for an encore presentation of The Wizard of Wu followed by A Halloween Carol!!!! Huzzah!

Meanwhile back in the Nation’s Capitol, Impeachment Inquiries are heating up, as HWMNBN can’t seem to help committing more crimes in plain view. I guess he really does believe he could shoot someone on 5th Avenue in broad daylight and not lose any support. What’s going to happen? Your guess is as good as mine, but what ever happens, you can be sure that ZooNooZ will be there to pontificate about it, and make fun of everything else.

We Have All Been Here Before…

Despite the fact I sometimes can’t remember where I left my keys, I still remember that August day in 1974 when I watched Nixon resign. I remember being thrilled and scared and maybe a little horrified, that the President was resigning, because he knew he was guilty of the crimes he was about to be impeached for.

Nixon was guilty, but his time in the White House was not without merit!

How quaint his crimes look compared to the current occupier of the People’s House. Fortunately, Nixon’s Ghost occasionally drops by at ZooNooZ to enlighten Bob and Mehitabel, and provide context for 45’s reign of corruption.

Can’t ghosts have opinions too?

The Panda Olympics are Coming!

Granted, they will not be hosting the Winter Olympics in Beijing until 2022, by which time we could all be dead, but we are so excited that the pandas get another chance to compete! Of course some sort of panda-like mascot has been selected for the 2022 Olympics. Predictably, some have criticized the Olympic committee for “lack of creativity” in choosing a panda as the mascot. To this we say: WHAT ARE YOU FREAKIN’ NUTS???? IT’S A PANDA! OF COURSE THEY CHOSE A PANDA! GET A GRIP!

In honor of this momentous honor for pandas, let’s look back on Panda Olympics past! Huzzah! It’s a double dose of pandas because we REALLY need them!

We Need Baby Pandas!!!

Oh me oh my! We just got the news that there will not be any baby pandas in DC this year! We send our love to Mommee Mei and family, and hope that they (and we!) can get over the disappointment!

Till we have news of the potential pitter patter of little paws in Calgary, we will have to be content for news and pictures of Hao Hao’s twins in Belgium at Pairi Daiza, and Meng Meng’s in Berlin. Not to mention an active baby panda season in China!

How did it ever get to be September? I just can’t imagine how August slipped by with hardly any notice. One of these months I need to completely block out my calendar and stay in bed for a week and read books and eat toast.

Meanwhile, I think it’s time to share our Salute to the Canadian Pandas, because…well, just because!

You know what we do on Sundays! We rummage through the archives looking for fun ‘toons to share with you again! TBH, sometimes I get an idea for a ‘toon theme when I’m out and about doing stuff, but by the time I sit down at the compooter, I’ve forgotten it already. Actually, I almost forgot what I was writing in the middle of this sentence.

But it’s Pinky’s Birthday season (and BUBBA’S!!!!!) so, it seems like we could still replay some of Pinky’s greatest hits!
