Mini Bob Started his travels in Oxford, which besides being a really cool place, is a hotbed of children’s literature, past and present. Think CS Lewis of Chronicles of Narnia fame, or Professor Charles Dodgson, better known as Lewis Carroll, author of Alice in Wonderland.
But the other thing England has in abundance is beer, and some pubs are friendly to bears.
Be the bear…or is that the beer?

I love the travelogue already! Not to dismiss Lewis & Dodgson, but how can you have forgotten to mention J.R.R. Tolkien in an Oxford post? 🙂
Have been following you for years, and love your work. I own some of your books, and look forward to putting your graphic novel in my (school) library when it comes out!
No, I most cerainly had not forgotten old JRR, nor his student and literary rival Phillip Pullman. I only discovered Pullman’s books recently. I was saving that for another of Mini Bob’s Oxford pictures.
It is fascinating to visit the city and countryside where favorite writers lived. You can almost see hobbits walking in the fields as you travel through the Oxford country side, and imagine that THIS is the tree young Alice was napping under when the White Rabbit ran by.
I can’t wait to be able to share the graphic novel with you and your school! I hope it is not to long in coming, but I am learning that publishing is a long game, and not a 100 yard dash.
Always good to start a trip with a fine ale 🙂
Breakfast of champions!
“Landlord, it’s a pint of the heavy for me, please, and whatever me wee friend here is havin’…”
Oddly enough, even though the Pub is called “The Bear”, they would not serve a small panda. (I did let him have a fews sips of mine, which led to him dancing on the table and bar, and getting us evicted, but not before several women gave him their phone numbers.)
Big Ted: Hey Mini Bob, what an adventure, you are my kind of bear. Take me next time as your “bodyguard”, betcha those landlords would serve me! (Me am sort of BIG!) Can’t wait for more ‘ventures!
What a good idea!
More adventures coming up!
