Episode 5: Pinky in Wonderland

What’s with all that bombing going on out there?

I hope everyone is having a lovely 4th of July holiday, for those who celebrate (and for those of you who have a day off from your various labors. There are no paid holidays among the self employed, you know!) The right wing propaganda media has claimed that today is the beginning of the second Civil War. Would that be the War on Civility, or did they have something else in mind?

I am endlessly entertained and cheered by the Writers of Twitter, who are whooping things up with their #secondcivilwarletter parodies over on Twidder. If you are a partaker in all things tweeting, I highly recommend getting yourself over to read the many #secondcivilwarletter offerings and maybe take a crack at writing your own! It’s really fun.

Creativity lives! And so does Pinky…on with our story!

Drink mee!

😮 Did Pinky forget to bring her magical wand? The #secondcivilwarletter’s are mostly hilarious, but I’m feeling a little too vengeful to write a funny one or a clever one. So i’ll just read and laugh out loud. Hope everyone has a safe 4th and makes sure their pets are safe too.

Pinky did forget her magical wand, or maybe Mommee has hid it again (so UNFAIRS to Pinky!). I had some good laughs reading the letters, but I hear ya on feeling vengeful.

The last few years of Mehitabel’s life, she was not so bothered by the fireworks, probably because she had gone deaf. It’s a hard day for a lot of people as well as animals. I worry about fires. Fortunately not too dry here this year. A few years ago it was very hot and dry leading up to the 4th, and I was furious that they did not ban fireworks in the state. Seems like the cost to life and property outweighs the “rights” of people to blow things up. But maybe that’s just me.

For sure it is not just you. We are in a serious drought here and the county banned Roman Candles, but the next county did not which is more than stupid. So last night sounded like a war zone in my lawless neighborhood. Every animal wild or domesticated was terrified. I know it is every where, but the stupid is really, really strong here. People were even shooting automatic weapons.

I have to say that it was not as bad as some years here. I saw that there were new rules posted on how many days people could use fireworks here, and I did not hear any last night (the 5th) Hoping that it is over for another year. So many animals are traumatized, not to mention people with PTSD.
