When I listen to the things that come out of 45’s mouth (which I do as rarely as possible) I start to think that maybe this whole free speech thing is overrated. Then I smack my self on the head, and remind myself that free speech lets me express my honest displeasure with the powers that be, without the risk of getting thrown in prison for it.
But the operating principle of this “administration” seems to be, the speech of some gets to be freer than the speech of others.
Be the Bear!
Bob T Elections have consequences Panda
PS: Don’t forget! Our Kickstarter is still gong on! I’ve recently added a new reward, and rewritten the project home page to make it (hopefully) less confusing. Seriously, every time I do this, in some ways it’s like the first time! :-}
Fingernails on a chalkboard is what “his” voice sounds, and feels, like to me. I have to either leave the room or push the mute button. And, asking for the country, shouldn’t the “president’s” speech be considered hate speech? Sigh. Thank you for your perfect representation of my, and many other’s, frustration.
Yes, 45’s speech is totally hate speech. He should be banned from twitter. I finally blocked him. It was not enough to mute him.
45 is a blithering idiot on Twitter. And everywhere. My brain hurts. Love this cartoon.
He makes my brain hurt too. Hang on to your hat. It’s gonna be a bumpy ride.
I have to withdraw from your website as I cannot enjoy pandas who are political.
Sigh…
Barbara, Barbara, Barbara.
I’ve been away from my computer for a few days, so have had time to go through all the possibilities from scathing reply, to just posting your comment and letting my fans, who believe that there is something very wrong with the current administration, have their way with you.
Just to be clear, this is not me apologizing for the political content of my ‘toons.
This morning I woke up, after just returning from a visit to Bai Yun, and my beloved Mr. Wu who are being returned to China sometime in May. While it’s true that their loan period was up, negotiations for a possible new panda loan for San Diego Zoo are made more difficult by the current “administration” and its combative stance with China and other countries that are not Russia.
If you think pandas should not be political, you have not been paying attention to pandas in the news since…oh, just about forever. In the early 50’s, the US declined to give a home to Chi Chi, because of tensions with China during the Korean “conflict”. (Chi Chi then went to the London Zoo, where she lived a life of luxury and had a devoted keeper who catered to her every whim.) Because of Nixon’s breaking down the barriers to talks with China in the early 70’s, we got the “Nixon Pandas” in 1972. (One of the few good things Nixon did, along with instituting the Environmental Protection Agency)
Panda news today just posted that a pair of pandas are going to Moscow. Pandas are and have always been political tools of China. I don’t like it either, but that’s the way it is, and people who love pandas just have to deal with it.
I’ve said this before, and I’ll say it again. My ‘toons and my art are my expressions of what I’m thinking about, what I’ve experienced, and what I believe. Nobody gets to tell me what I should or shouldn’t write about in my ‘toons. The one true thing, in my experience, is that you can’t make everyone happy with what you do. The only person I’m trying to make happy is me. There are many people who tell me that my ‘toons make the happy, because they’ve found a funny way to look at what they too, are feeling or experiencing. If they don’t have that effect on you, well, you are better off not reading them.
Life is way too short to do things that will make you unhappy.
