It’s Fabulous Furry Friday!

Wowee, a big day at the Panda Chronicles just because I shot my mouth off. There are (and will continue to be) some who disagree with me.  It’s not only the role of cartoonists to entertain; sometimes we have to poke gentle fun at people and events we think need poking. Sometimes it gets us in trouble, and sometimes people who don’t agree stop listening, and that’s OK.  Art is about expressing what the artists feels,  not saying just what they think people want to hear, which would be tough, since there are many points of view.  Just sayin.

Now let’s have some fun, relax and embrace our inner pandas, ‘kay?

What's that stuff getting all over my paws? Oh...it's frosting!

The inside of my brain is a complicated place.

The secret lives of the wild panda!

The secret lives of the wild panda!

All salute the sacred cuppycake!

Maybe if you do a little yoga, you’ll feel better. Just breathe, ‘kay?

OK, folks! have a good weekend, relax, have a cuppycake, and think good thoughts.

‘kay?

Okay, so I feel the need to comment…No, I don’t agree with you on some things, but that’s what this country is all about, isn’t it?? We have the freedom to do that here, not so much in some other places around the world. Let’s all hope that we NEVER lose that right. Now, even though I disagree with you politically, I love what you do and I love the fact that you make people laugh. We all can use a good laugh be it at ourselves or otherwise. Now, have to shut up and make chocolate, ’cause that’s how I make people smile and that’s a good thing! (and, no, I haven’t forgot yours, just still too darn hot-maybe next week)

Hey, Stacy, Thank you so much for your comment. You are a voice of reason, and I’m not just saying that because you make chocolate and promised me some of it. Too often, people with differing viewpoints can’t get past their differences and sit down and discuss why they believe what they believe. I’m guessing that if we were in a room together (perhaps with a little red wine and chocolate to help facilitate the discussion,) we could get to the root of why each of us believes what we do. We may still disagree, but we would hold each other’s right to those beliefs dear.
While I’m not above poking fun at politics and politicians, I hope I am not stooping to name calling and gross misrepresentations of a personal nature. I count on my readers to not exactly keep me in line (because God knows no one has been able to do that), but to give me a reality check every once in a while, and remind me that just because I think about something one way, not everyone does. How boring would that be?
I’m sure I’ve offended a few people enough so that they would stop reading my cartoons. I am truly sad about that, but I’m not here to please everyone, because that’s just not possible. I love to poke fun at everyone and everything, myself included. (I try not to advertise when I’ve done that, so that I can go to the grocery store and not be embarrassed.)
I’m glad that you wrote me this comment, instead of just getting mad and going away. I value all my readers, not JUST the one’s who have access to high quality chocolate. Thanks for sticking around. As you say, this country is founded on the right to freedom of speech, among other things.
Now, let’s go out there and be cute and funny (and have some chocolate! Here’s to cooler weather.)

In the words of someone I admire, who shall remain nameless, HUZZAH. Too bad there are not more people like us ’cause even though we sit on different sides of the aisle we can still be friends and dare I take the liberty to say that I’m pretty darn confident that if we ever had the opportunity to sit down and discuss our differences (of course with a little wine in one hand and chocolate in the other) we would still be friends after all was said and done.

Well exactly, Laurie! If we just write what people want to hear (or what we think they want to hear) we are wasting everyone’s time, readers and writers alike.
It’s the job of art to question the common wisdom, our perception, and our beliefs.
Now, I’m getting way to serious here. I need some rampaging panda kindergarteners with cuppycakes on their minds.

Good on you Bob T. You have to be the panda that nips at the collective heels of the establishment. Cartoonist have a long history of being the collective voice of a community. Now where the heck are those blasted cuppycakes?

um… did you say cuppycakes? I know they are here somewhere.
Oh wait, the panda kindergarten has been here. They said they liberated them for the collective good.
          sorry
