Thank you for asking about the pandas expressions. It’s been an evolutionary process since starting writing and drawing these ‘toons 9 years ago. Besides being a huge fan of strips like Calvin and Hobbes, Get Fuzzy, and many others, I’ve read a number of books on comics theory and practice. My favorite is a series written by Scott McCloud: Understanding Comics, Reinventing Comics, and Making Comics. I highly recommend them.
As they say, “How do you get to Carnegie Hall?” Practice, Practice, Practice.
Calvin and Hobbes, Bucky and Satchel are my favorites! I can’t draw worth a hoot, but I’ve been enjoying learning about art stuff. I will add the McCloud books to my list — thanks! 🙂

And I’ve learned that Pinky has moved to Gengda, a beautiful, peaceful panda base. PDX Wildlife has an outpost there and we will ask them to keep an eye on and share photos of Pinky. I don’t know if she will get a cam there. But it was one of the bases we volunteered at, and the people are very kind and the base is new, clean, and well cared for. Not a lot of trees, but hopefully she will have enough to entertain her.
It makes me so happy to send out the artwork I did as a result of my trip. Now I just have to finish putting all my trip journal posts onto the page here. I’m still working on paintings from my photos and I am very excited about them.
