Being the ever attentive big sister, Pinky has offered to teach baby Bei Bei Bubba Brother, a new game…called…Pinky Sez…
Don’t you wish you had such a caring older sibling?
Yeah, me neither.
It is a wonder that Mei Xiang’s fur is not turning gray! But I think Bubba is beginning to catch on to his big sister’s manipulations. He can’t quite resist the temptation of frosting, though. For now, Pinky has the upper paw.
And if you haven’t read this story by New Yorker writer Robin Wright already, take a few minutes to read it now. It might help you understand why we’re all so crazy for Washington DC’s newest superstar (panda). (Not to mention help you distract yourself from other DC shenanigans.) It is a lovely look at pandas, from the viewpoint of a lifelong panda fan.
Bubba would also like to point out that according to this article, twice as many people have viewed Bubba on the panda cam in his first four months, than they did Pinky during a similar time period. Watch out Robyn. Pinky might be able to find your address. #Don’tMakePinkyMad
Be the bear,
Bob T. Panda
Gotta love that Pinky!! One day Bubba will learn! LOL
He is so innocent and willing to go along with everything Pinky says. He will learn to be more skeptical someday, I’m sure. Pretty sure, anyway. 🙂
To be fair, Pinky’s camera was shut down during the budget mess so no one could watch her for like decades. (OK, slight exaggeration but it seemed that long.) And her popularity has made him popular also. But I like her game. Wish I’d thought of it. I might have gotten a Barbie after all.
You are not the first to point out that Pinky lost valuable screen time during the cutest weeks of her life. And you are also correct that Pinky’s popularity helped to create the groundswell of panda interest that is sweeping the country.
But since Pinky still has the upper paw in her dealings with Bubba, can’t we give him this one little instance of feeling more popular than Pinky? No, I didn’t think so either.
Great article and great ‘toon. Every younger sister or brother will appreciate what Bei Bei has to go through (Big smile)_
I really loved that article.
And speaking as a tormented younger sibling, I am ashamed of myself for allowing Pinky to be so naughty. Not that that will prevent more bad behavior in the future or anything.
Oh that Pinky!
She is really something, isn’t she? Although sometimes her behavior makes me question what lies beneath the surface of my brain. “I’m not bad,” says Pinky. “She just draws me that way!”
Anyone who is a sibling has a bit of mischievous Pinky in them!! True Story!! Hehehe Ummmm hehehe
I hate to admit that, but I think you are right. Otherwise, where else could these ideas be coming from? I should point out that I am the younger sibling, so maybe these are um…repressed memories.
Ummm I am also the youngest sibling. I do know how mischievous the elder siblings can be. I did follow cuz it was sooo much fun!!! Trouble to the Wind, no cares, no worries!! Hehehe Mei has her paws full!!! But, Pinky for Prezydent!
Or why not vote for Bob? He’s a panda too (and a younger sibling, no less.)
As an aside I just posted over at Mark Bialczak’s http://markbialczak.com/2016/03/13/a-short-drive/comment-page-1/#comment-77332 If you have time to drop by for a read, i’d be honored.
Congratulations on your proposed move to Vancouver. It is a lovely city, for many reasons, but you are right about the weather. Let me know when you are passing through the Seattle area on your trip. If it works out to have coffee, that would be very cool. I hope this all works out for you in this move. and I bet your mum will be thrilled.
I always thought that’s what little brothers were for. I know, I played that same game with my little brother. 50 years later, he still hasn’t forgiven me.
hmmm…fun times, fun times.
I think u have to give Pinky credit for thinking of innovative ideas for new games for Bubba to participate in !! What fun for a little panda boy !! What a lucky little boy to have such a loving sister !! Pinky4President !! The country needs her !!
Bubba is not so sure about all this, but he is learning. Slowly, but he is learning.
I love these so much! Of course, this particular one doesn’t remind me at all of precious childhood memories with my own Di Di, not at all, not in the slightest….
Oh, and “How dis a game? You always boss me!” cracked me up!
I have no idea where that came from (said the younger sibling.)
Thank you. I crack myself up too.
Uh huh…
The siren call of frosting – I think I hear it now 🙂
I hear it often myself!
Oh Pinky, in each cartoon she is smarter and savvy … loving lil’ princess so much :-)))

Pinky has taken off on her own, and I have no idea what she will be up to next, until I start to draw her. She is da bear to be reckoned with.
