Get Ready for The Panda Season of Love

You might not realize that Valentine’s Day takes place in mid February because it commemorates the beginning of the Panda Season of Love. I’m pretty sure I am not making this up.

Would I lie to you?

I thought it was time for a new Valentine’s Day cartoon, because the last one I did was at least four or five years ago.

So here it is!

it’s the panda, the panda season of love!

And word from the Toronto Zoo is, they have both a girl and a boy, going strong but not names yet. What’s wrong with “Bob” and “Babette”? I think they have a nice ring, don’t you?

Meanwhile, I hope you are celebrating the opening days of the Panda Season of Love with those you hold dearest. And…um…if you have any extra chocolate, send it my way. Okay?

Day 21: The Twelve Days of Crispmoss

Fa-la-la-la-la-la! It’s time for The Twelve Days of Crispmoss!

On the first day of Crispmoss the panda cam did see….

Everybody sing!

Meanwhile pandas have been sneaking around the internet, getting into all sorts of things! Firstly, they made a visit to Cordelia’s Mom, Still, and talked about their newest offering, The Panda Chronicles Coloring Book. Then, in the hopes it would inspire us to get back to work on The Panda Chronicles Cuppycake Cookbook: Favorite recipes of the Panda Kindergarten, I submitted the first recipe to the fabulous website, They Draw & Cook. Appropriately, It is Princess Pinky’s Cuppycake recipe! You can find it via this link and also in the “recently added recipes” section. I’ve been following this website for several hearts, because:
1. food
2. art
3. seriously cool people.

I hope you’ll check them out.

We’re making a list,
Of presents and stuff,
We hope we get lots,
Or we’ll be real gruff,
Pandy Claws is coming to town!

We put out some cake
With frosting galore,
Hey that looks good,
Maybe I should have more,
Pandy Claws is coming to town!

He knows where you are sleeping,
And when you are awake.
He’s got a list from Pinky,
That will cause his sleigh to break!

You better not get
Into Pinky’s way.
You have been warned ,

Leaping out of his holiday wrapping, we want to take this little gift home with us!

Fabulous Furry Friday Gets Ready….

…for 31 Days of Pandas!!!!!

I am making a bit of a change to this years festivities, as with my various projects, I am a bit overloaded to do a new cartoon every day. (Booo! Hisss! Quiet in the cheap seats, you pandas!)

As you might remember, I am working on revising my story about Mr. Wu and Inspector Panda, where they are faced with a painting that may (or may not) have been stolen. Not to mention an international panda of mystery! Anyway, here is my plan for this year’s 31 Days of Pandas:

A new cartoon posted every Sunday, multiple episodes each day from some of my longer stories, and, sketches from my work in progress, staring the aforementioned Mr Wu in what I hope will be my first traditionally published middle grade graphic novel. But have no fear! Should the folks in trad. publishing say, “oh no! this is too weird! We can’t publish this! A Panda Detective? Bah, Humbug!” We will bring it to you as all the other Panda Chronicle books have been brought to you, via Leaping Panda Press! Huzzah!

So to get us off to a good start, here are the drawings that I have come up with so far, along with some colorful character sketches.

FFF Asks: Who’s Your Daddy?

In all the excitement of the birth of twin panda cubs at the National Zoo, and then the sad news of the smaller of the cubs death, a little news item got…um…overlooked and everyone wants to know: Who’s your daddy?

For today’s Fabulously Furry Friday line up of encores, we revisit some ‘toons that ask that very question.

Our lack of taste is only exceeded by our sense of the absurd.

It’s Fabulous Furry Friday, once again, coming to you LIVE from The Institute of Contemporary Panda Satire! Yay! Now that John Stewart has retired, does that leave an opening for the Institute of Contemporary Panda Satire to take center stage in the public consciousness?

Nah, we didn’t think so either, but a bear can dream!

With all this talk about Pinky running for President, I thought a look back at Bob T. Panda’s run for the White House back in 2012 was called for, don’t you? Who could forget those dramatic days….First Girlfriend candidate Babette de Panda, Bob’s vile opponent, Mittens the Cat? It was a non stop political pandarama!

Babette has ..um…toned her wardrobe down in honor of this important occasion.

In the words of Winnie ther Pooh, “I think it’s time for a little something.”

Huzzah!

Does being endangered have NO privileges?

Cats….you just can’t trust em.

Keep cool, cat, and don’t go blaming women for stuff. That is SO not the way to get votes…

Wasn’t that trip down memory lane fun? I can’t hardly wait to see what Pinky has up her paws to help her win this election. And we know Pinky can’t help but win, what with being an icon and all …. and the Winner of the Smithsonian icon Smackdown is…

Some new designs will be coming out in the next couple of months. In the works are designs for Bee, the Bear, the Meihems, Inspector Panda, the Wu Self, Babette de Panda, and who knows what other panda characters will be commemorated this way? If you have a special request, please feel free to share it in a comment, or on the contact us page. 10 % of revenue from Pandyland sales will go to one of several Panda Support organizations. In April, we supported (or will, as soon as we get our proceeds from Cafe Press!) will go to Pandas International, to help assist them in all that they do for pandas. Huzzah!

Private email part 2

Bob should take some small comfort in knowing that he is not the only political candidate that has had to reveal their personal emails after using their private email account for official emails related to their important government jobs.

But hey! you can get away with a lot when you are a panda, right, Mr. Pookie Bear?

Yes, it’s Fabulous Furry friday, where we look back at our favorite examples from the Panda Chronicles archives! Huzzah!

This week holds several occasions of note, the first being Fat Tuesday (or as we like to call it around here, Extra Fluffy Tuesday), The Chinese Lunar New Year, and coming up on Sunday, The Academy Awards.

A note about the discrepancy as to whether this is the Year of the Sheep, Goat, or Ram: our friend over at Vsomethingspeaks wrote an excellent essay on just why there is no absolute agreement on this year’s designation. You can read all about it here, as well as get a new delicious sounding recipe! We stand our portrayal of the Year of the Sheep…because…um…pandas in sheep costumes, right?

Chinese New Year Preview

It’s almost time for Chinese new Year, and once again the panda kindergarten will present their Salute to the New Year. That means it’s time for encore presentations of previous pandy kindy extravaganzas! Huzzah!

The year of the bunny…..

And then there was The Year of the Dragon….

Not to mention another of Bob’s literary attempts at greatness, inspired by the Year of the Dragon….

What do you mean by “was?”

And then we skipped the year of the Snake, because…um…snakes?

So then it was on to the Year of the Horse. Huzzah!

Huzzah! It’s The year of Pandas on Horsies!

I want to know when it will be the Year of the Panda? I mean, come on…pandas come from China, and yet we have no year of the PANDA!!!!!!!????

Mehitabel’s note: Pfft! Seems to me that around here it is ALWAYS the year of the panda. Get over it!
