You may recall that a few weeks ago, we lost one of our dear members of the panda community. Jayelle was a fierce defender of her family, her friends, all animals (especially pandas) and her beloved NASCAR races. One of the panda fam suggested I do something incorporating her avatar (a panda with a checkered racing flag) into a ‘toon.
Never one to resist taking a simple idea and loading it up with a bunch of other stuff, I share with you now, this 3 part series that celebrates at least some of the things she loved.
Who will win? Six and Sebben battle it out on the track!

It is Sunday, here in these United States, (or more accurately, Untied States) and we are going to attempt to ignore reality for however long it takes to read these ‘toons, celebrating Pinky and Bubba’s birthday season. It is hard to believe that in the real world, Bubba turns 5 this year, and Pinky is Seven! (Sebben: no! i is sebben. shee is pinky!!!)
So, let’s take a deep breath and practice our happiest delusional techniques while we celebrate…

Ya kind of have to wonder. Are they all smoking weed at the WH? I mean, where do they come up with the things they tell people at press conferences and interviews? Is it really necessary to attack scientists and other experts who are trying too…IDK…keep us all from dying in the streets?
DC Boopsie’s name has been changed to protect the innocent (me) from the wrath of large toy companies you know who I mean.

The country said goodbye to John R Lewis on Friday.I am so sorry for John Lewis’ passing, but so grateful for his existence and all the work he did. I believe he has inspired a new generation of activists, which is a damn good thing, since Mittens has taken us back to the same kind of hate and bigotry that John Lewis fought in the 60’s. It’s worse in a way, because you think we would know better by now.

I love the story line of Bubba making friends with the Canadian Panda Twins. With a sister like Pinky, Bubba needs playmates that like him just the way he is. Of course now he has Ping with him all the time, but he still misses Yip and Jip. (especially Yip)
There are so many things going on that I just can’t face in the news, so I’m just going to put my paws over my ears, so I can post today’s ‘toon. Meanwhile, as I type this, it is the Wu Self’s birthday. Happy Birthday, sweetest bear!

I try not to listen to TOO much news over the weekend. One needs a bit of time to re-group and recover from the Friday night assaults that is the nooz cycle these days. You Know Who likes to do his firings and crimes right before he leaves for the golf course.
But here we all are… hanging on to Democracy by her coat tails, crying Please don’t leave us! WE swear we’ll do better! We’ll stop cheating on you with Fascism and Oligarchy!. But is it too late? Have we crossed the line?

Hold your horses, Pinky! It is still Mr. Wu’s birthday season. We’ll get to yours next week. Meanwhile, if you are still on Fezbook and can follow Patricia Rice’s panda birthday posts, I highly recommend them. Given that she is a real life historian, she writes excellent birthday posts for many of the known captive panda population, including most of our favorite bears.
