Pinky Saves America…yet again!

Well, we really dodged a terrible disaster! Yesterday, Friday the 13th came on a MONDAY!!!!! Um…I never actually admitted that my sense of humor has ever risen beyond that of a 7th grader, so, ya know…whatebber!

Meanwhile, my tiny panda Kickstarter has been chugging right along! I started making needle felted pandas because I needed a hobby that was kind of stress reducing. So what did I do? I turned it into a major production. I guess that’s just the kind of bear I am! Fortunately, I love repetitive tasks, and if needle felting is anything, it has a lot of repetition. Also fortunately, I can imagine I am stabbing certain people who must not be named right through the heart! Fun for the whole family!

Meanwhile, Pinky has firmly embraced the whole podcast thing! Stay tuned for the next episode of…

The Year in Review Part 2

Before we dive in to our Year in Review encore presentation, can I just say OH MY FRIGGING GOD!!!! The tiny panda (Hold me closer tiny panda) Kickstarter reached its goal amount 13 minutes after launching. I am astounded with gratitude for this response. It also was listed as a Kickstarter Project We Love most of the day on Friday. Needless (or needle-less) to say, I have a lot of felting to do over the coming months. If you are afraid you missed your favorite panda, check back at the project, because I added some more reward categories!

Thank you again, from deep within my heart. I can’t wait to get these pandas to you! (After I make them of course!) This has the added benefit of getting to visit the Abundant Earth Fiber store again, which may now be called my happy place!

But now, on with the Year in Review for April, May, and June (Wherein we are reminded of why we need emotional support pandas!)

Everybody who’s anybody has a podcast!

Well, except for me, unless that means I’m not anybody! One of my favorite podcasts is Pod Save America, which bills itself as “a political podcast for people who aren’t ready to give up or go insane”. Another is The Daily Beans, (News with Swearing)  by the women who brought us Mueller She Wrote. Between these podcasts, and listening to the podcast version of Rachel Maddow, I am able to stay informed and outraged, even without a television!

Of course, Pinky decided she should have her OWN podcast!

The Year in Review Part One

I did warn you I was going to do this. It will be instructive (not to mention profoundly depressing) to look back both here in panda satire, as well as in the real world (or the reality world…whatebber!) and see where we started 2019!

So in January…

Look out Bubba! Pinky is trying to get her paws on Banky Pig!

On To February!

The Government shutdown, orchestrated by HWMNBN started in December, and still continued into February, heedless of putting 100’s of 1,000’s of people out of work. Or was it millions?

Dis. Will Not. STAND!!!!!

I see trouble in my crystal ball…

Even Nancy Pelosi listened enthusiastically!

But Time Waits for no Panda…onto March!

March brought us the presidential candidacy floating of yet another unqualified billionaire, this time a purveyor of double-half-caff-frappacino-with-skim-whippy-cream-and-sprinkles, claiming that the obvious disdain for his proposed presidential run, was a sure sign that the people wanted him to do it. Fortunately, he fizzled out (bad back, my behind!) and he has receded to the obscurity he deserves.

“Hey! I’m still back here!”

The people have spoken!

And then there was the return of everyone’s favorite grizzlies…Frank and Mikey!

“We are NEVER going to get our security deposit back!!!”

Day 31 ~ 31 Days of Pandas

Oh my goodness! It’s Day 31!!!! It’s New year’s Eve in my time zone. for some of you, it’s already next year! What ever time zone you are in, take a deep breath, sleep in, if you can, and think about how you are going to combat authoritarianism this year!

I’m going to do it by speaking out here, and in the real world, and keep drawing my ‘toons that speak my truth!

Keep being the bear!

Day 30 ~ 31 Days of Pandas!

It’s Day 30 of 31 Days of Pandas! Thank you for joining me for this month-long Pandapalooza! It is always fun dipping into the archives to see what floats to the surface!

We are looking at a very stressful year ahead. HWMNBN is not going to go quietly into the night like Nixon did. He is going to go kicking and screaming and saying UNFAIR WITCH HUNT all the way. We need to be very brave and stand up for the Constitution and for Democracy. We need all the pandas and frosting that we can get!

To that end, let me leave you with some of my all time favorite ‘toons from over the years!

Yesterday’s ‘toon made me think about all the other occasions that Mei Xiang delivered some resolutions for Pinky, so I thought that today’s ‘toon round up could feature those ‘toons! (Pinky: I don’t know why! I’m already perfect!)

Day 26 ~ 31 Days of Pandas

Wow! 31 Days of Pandas is on the downhill slide once again! I hope it’s been as much fun for yours it was for me to revisit these classics of panda satire! January will feel almost like a vacation since I won’t have to post every day!

Where we’re at….

I’ll be back on my schedule of new ‘toons every Tuesday and Thursday, and a selection of favorite ‘toons from the archives on Sundays. In January, our encore presentations will focus on the year in review, as I look back to see what was going on each month of the year.

You might have noticed that I didn’t not get around to putting out a new book in January of 2019, and before I knew it, it was December! How the heck did THAT happen? Well, I guess we were all a bit distracted by the fall of Democracy and the various crimes in plain sight by HWMNBN. It was suggested to me, that I look at the ‘toons from 2018 & 2019, and do a compilation on ‘toons about politics! I think that could be very instructive!

I am in the midst of my usual year end practice of looking where I’ve been, and figuring out where I’m going. The political mess has led me to spend too much time raging on Twitter and seeing if You Know Who has had a stroke or committed any overt acts of violence in public. It’s a dilemma: I want to hang out with you all, but I also need to get paintings, pandas (and of course needle felted pandas!!!!) done. So, no more mornings on the internet. Hanging out with you all will be my reward at the end of the day after I’ve actually gotten something done!

Meanwhile, let’s see what Pinky and Bubba are up to. Isn’t it time for Pinky to get her list of resolutions for the new year from mommee?

You would think Pinky would already have improved her behavior by now…

Day 25 ~ 31 Days of Pandas

I hope you are spending the morning in your PJ’s, surrounded by those you love. Holiday’s are not all they are cracked up to be, for many people, so if you have a complicated relationship with supposed joyful times of year (whatever holiday you do or don’t celebrate) cut yourself a great, big length of slack. Just remember, if your holiday is not what you wish it was, Donald tRUmp’s is turning out even worse than that. 🙂

Meanwhile, sit back and enjoy our feature presentation (starring Pinky!!!)…
