It’s Mr Wu Wednesday, and Mr Wu is off on a NEW adventure!

If you haven’t guessed already, we are calling Mr. Wu’s new adventure, The Wizard of Wu! I can’t tell you exactly how it is all going to come out (I am after all a “pantser”*) but I can tell you that Mr Wu makes it home safely in the end, and learns a valuable lesson.  I promised Doxiemom that there would be no flying monkeys, but I’m afraid the pandy kindy has stepped in to fill that role.

And remember, it’s all make believe.

We're in for it now, Binky!

We’re in for it now, Binky!

Tune in again next Wednesday to see the next exciting episode of The Wizard of Wu!  (and of course, don’t forget Fabulous Furry Friday and Multiple choice Monday!)

Fabulous Furry Friday: Musings of the amusing sort….

Here we are, another week gone and where did it go?  A few other things are gone too, in my quest to make The Panda Chronicles better and more sustaining for the long run.  We pandas are in this to stay, never mind that whole endangered thingie.   As I mentioned before, and in my newsletter, if you had been a subscriber before, you will need to re-sign up because I found out too late that subscribers do not come along for the ride.  I just switched the order of the sign-up forms.  Now the one on top of the right hand column signs you up for the blog, and the second one, signs you up for my newsletter which I write about once a month.  Hope you will re-up, if you were already a blog subscriber.  (Newsletter subscribers were not affected by the switchover)

I’m sure you’d hate to miss great classics like these encore presentations that appear on Fabulous furry Fridays (and will be in our soon to be released book 3: Nobody Expects the Panda Kindergarten!

On my honor, I will try...to eat as many cookies as I possibly can....

On my honor, I will try…to eat as many cookies as I possibly can….

As I work on Book 3 of The Panda Chronicles, I get distracted by re-reading all the cartoons as I put them in the book template.  Makes for a longer task, but more fun too.  Here are a few of the ‘toons for the new book:

What will Christopher Robin say about this?

It’s a Windy Wu’sday, as Mr Wu prepares to greet his Panda Fans! Huzzah!

Up here in the panda-less Pacific Northwest, one thing we are never short of are wind and rain.  OK, that was two things, but they do kind of go together! Although, right now, we are having wind and SUN!  But I bet you wish I would quit blathering about the weather, and get the latest cartoon from Mr Wu up on this site.

OK, OK, here it is!

And now, the envelope, please…..

As you can imagine, Babette de Panda was quite disappointed that she was not nominated for an Oscar this year (we hesitate to point out that she did not appear in a new film this year, as she tends to be…um…well, you know).  She did attend the awards ceremony as a presenter, and we were lucky to obtain this footage, from sources that must remain, for obvious reasons, anonymous.

What will Christopher Robin say about this?

Hope you are having a happy Monday! Don’t forget to tune in onWednesday when we present the next installment of “A Pirate’s Life for Mister Wu”

Friday! Huzzah! Pandas in History! Huzzah!

I know I’ve been torturing you all week with my hints of an exciting discovery in panda history.  To be truthful, it does not reveal any new information, but it DOES put me, my cute Bob self, in much closer proximity to the actual events!

Let me explain:  when I first started on my journey to find my inner panda, I came across Vicki Constantine Croke’s book about Ruth Harkness just sitting on a display shelf in the library.  Coincidence?  I think not!  Now let’s jump ahead five years to the present, and a phone call from my friend RH. He tells me that he found an old photo album that belonged to his late father.  The album turned out to belong to very close friends of his parents, who in 1937, took a driving trip from Seattle, down to California, then heading east through Yellowstone, ( where they ..um…fed the bears) and finally to Chicago, where they took this picture:

In July of 1937, this could only be Su-Lin, America’s first panda. Now I know there is lot’s of controversy in the panda community of the “kidnap” of this panda baby, and I won’t get into that here.  My point is, that the first panda in America was visited and photographed by family friends of MY friend, which puts me at two degrees of separation from the first panda in America (not to mention the first panda that rode in a taxi and went to parties.) Was it not destiny, that I began to draw pandas? That I founded the Institute for Contemporary Panda Satire? Huzzah!

I was born to draw pandas and chronicle their adventures! Huzzah!

Day 28! a Furry Friday Cartoon!

You have probably all been wondering where Mehitabel has been this month.  Needless to say, that after the “rigors” of the Kickstarter campaign, she needed a bit of a break.  Today’s cartoons shows that she is back in her panda kindergarten fighting form, ready for action, and hey! No hard feelings, eh, bears?

Several of my faithful followers and supporters have pointed out that they are fans of MEHITABEL, not just those rascally panda kindergarteners and so this cartoon is dedicated to you all!  While apparently, next year is still not “the year of the cat” it is always the year of Mehitabel!

And a quick reminder that you still have a couple more days to order your book The Panda Chronicles book 1: Your Brain on Pandas for $2 off by using this code:

Mehitabel gets even.

This really was inspired by a story I heard on NPR and I don’t mean National Panda Radio!  I swear I am not making this up!

Day 20 Look Out! The End of the World Approaches!!!!

OK, do we believe the whole Mayan-Calaendar-End-of-the-World-Scenario or what?  I don’t think I do, but just in case, I won’t bother to do my laundry and yes, I will have another piece of cake, thank you very much!

I really hope it doesn’t end (and just between you and me, I don’t think that it is is going to) because I really want to meet the cute Wu self down in San Diego next spring!  But pandas take no chances when apocalypse threatens…see for your cute Wu self in a cartoon we call….:

It was the 14th day of December…..

Today, as promised, there is a full, feature length cartoon for your panda-ing pleasure, but before we get to that, there is an announcement from our sponsor, The Institute for Contemporary Panda Satire and Leaping Panda Press.  (It is a very fun thing about the internet, that you can just declare you are something or someone, come up with some spiffy computer graphics and voila`! You are now The Institute for Contemporary Panda Satire, and before you know it, everyone just accepts that as fact.  Is this cool or what?)

As you probably know, the first collection of cartoons from the Panda Chronicles was just published and as faithful readers of the blog, you deserve a little something extra in your Christmas stockings.  Until the 31st of December, you can now order The Panda Chronicles Book 1: Your Brain on Pandas  here  and get a discount of $2 per copy by using this code:

Meanwhile, here is today’s feature length cartoon!   Huzzah!

What do you MEAN I didn't win?

What do you MEAN I didn’t win?

And speaking of Kickstarter (wait, who was speaking of Kickstarter, There is a fun project with just under 48 hours to go from a fellow cartoonist who has created a dry erase refrigerate magnet comic strip, so you can write your own dialog.  He has a last “stretch goal” and if he reaches it, he’ll make a bunch of his magnet cartoon strips to donate to Boston Children’s Hospital.  What a good guy!  Check out his project here!

And a big Pandy thank you for all the new followers here at The Panda Chronicles! We have passed 47,000 page views and we are within the realms of possibilities to reach 50,000 by December 31st.  Is it wierd? yes, but it’s a really cheap Christmas present for the panda kindergarten!
