Day 20: You Better Watch Out

You better watch out
and listen up good,
and don’t ever say that
Pinky’s no good.

Pinky Paws is coming to town

She’s making a list
of political foes,
this is one place
you don’t want to go,

Pinky Paws is coming to town.

She knows where you are sleeping,
so don’t make no mistake.
If you are good to Pinky,
she’ll share some cuppycakes!

On with a brand new ‘toon!

You better watch out....

You better watch out….

I could not, could not, COULD NOT resist making a mug design for Bubba. Stay tuned next month for more Bubba gear to celebrate his public debut (or is that DeBOO?) next month.

Recent postings of relative cub weight at the approximate number of days of age reveals that Bubba is not only larger than either of his two siblings were at the same age, but also larger than all of the cubs born at the San Diego Zoo. So….

Of course, it is available at Pandyland, my CafePress store.

Isn't that just the cutest thing?

Keep being the bear! Tomorrow stay tuned for the 12 days of Crispmoss!

Day 19: From the Deep Archives

I thought that for today, I would dig into the deepest, darkest archives. Let’s see what happens when we do this…

Ever wondered where all these pandas came from?

Ever wondered where all these pandas came from?

Or who our early influences were?

Will Mehitabel ever free herself of pandas? Stay tuned!

Or what we think is a suitably dignified name for a panda?

"Bob" has a nice ring to it!

Day 18: Today, I am a Bear

We wouldn’t want to appear to be biased towards one holiday over another here at the Panda Chronicles, so even though the holiday of Pandukkah is now over (thank you for that, Nina L.) we celebrate that turning point in any young panda’s life, the Bear Mitzvah! 31 days of Pandas proudly presents…

Today, I am a Bear…

Today, you are a bear.

Today, you are a bear.

...if I were a panda, yadda dah dah da- da- da- AAARGH! I can't stop!!!!!

Meanwhile, the debates go on….

Day 15: 31 Days of Pandas

We’re back with the next episodes of It’s a Wun-derful Life, starring Mr. Wu, Bee (the Bear) and other pandas besides!

It's a wonderful Life parody

Bee the bear tells it like it is

It's a Wonderful Life parody

What part of “you don’t exist” didn’t you get?

Where IS Mr. Wu’s mom? It’s getting very existential around here!

Tune in tomorrow for the next episode!

Day 11, 31 Days of Pandas

Having finished up with The Wizard of Wu this week, I thought I would wait until next Monday to start the next Encore Presentation of another Panda-Adventure story. Because it ’tis the season, next week get ready for…

It’s a Wun-derful Life, starring, you guessed, it, Mr Wu!!!!!!

Quiet in cheap seats! I’m allowed to play favorites, and since Pinky just got a whole ‘nother book, almost to herself, I thought the Wu-Self should get a little more air time. Plus Pinky and Bubba will be here with an all new cartoon on Sunday where we reveal Bubba’s official Panda Chronicles outfit! Huzzah!!!!!!

I’d also like to take this opportunity, as it is also Fabulous Furry Friday, to mention that there is no better time than now to give the gift of panda satire! With >6< books plus the all new Panda Chronicles Coloring Book, not to mention Pandamorphosis, to choose from, and lots of goodies available from The Pandyland Store on Cafe Press and suitable for framing illustration reproductions from Pandamorphosis, there is something for everyone on your gift giving list.

Okay, comercial over! Bring on the bears!

excessive photoshopping of celebrities

I’m ready for my close-up…um..I am, aren’t I?

Remember the early days of Pinky and her magical wand? Here’s Pinky’s first news conference!

deleted footage from press conference

Pinky answers difficult questions from the press in her own way.

Princess Pinky helps with new years resolutions

You say you want a resolution, well, you know, it is hard to change a bear….

Sometimes I think that I shouldn’t comment on the serious issues of the day. Then I remember that bringing light and laughter into the world is important. That’s our mission here at The Panda Chronicles. The news has been far too seriously ugly of late. I say embrace your inner panda and let’s be kinder and gentler.  Okay?

Don’t try this at home….

Don’t forget to tune in tomorrow for some more panda fun from The Panda Chronicles!

Day 10, 31 Days of Pandas

Rather than start another one of my longer stories today, I thought I’d dive deep deep deep into the archives for one of my …um…quirkier stories. What made me think of this story was a post from Colorado writer Kathy Lynn Harris, who I discovered through The Write Life Magazine. She had written an essay there that made me an instant fan. The story also, just possibly made me spew coffee all over my laptop, since I had the bad sense to drink while reading. Not that I blame her, or anything.

Anyway, a recent re-read of this post made me decide to dig my own tribute to Barbie out of the archives and share it with you here.

Enjoy! This one’s for you, Kathy.

I am Thankful

I am thankful for pandas, for laughter, for days the sun shines in my window, for misty mornings where everything is gray, and a panda…might…just …walk out of the fog.

Last Supper, Cupcakes, DaVinci

Princess Pinky says, she is thankful for cuppycakes and da panda kindygarten and her magical wand!

I am thankful that I still have a roof over my head, enough resources to keep the heat on and food on my table. I am thankful for those who help those who do not.

I am thankful for kindness, for peaceful dealings, especially with those who might not be in agreement with me. I am thankful for the help of friends, in big ways and small.

I am thankful for all of you who read my ‘toons, buy my books, engage in panda chat on Twidder and Fezbook. I haven’t had this much fun since kindergarten.

I am thankful for the mentor program through the Nevada chapter of SCBWI that welcomed a goofy story about pandas into the program, and all the lovely people I met there and hope will be connected to for a long time.

Be kind, be generous, be peaceful, be the bear.

(back to business as usual tomorrow!)

Busing for Beavers

What else could you call relocation of 76 beavers in Idaho in 1948, except busing for beavers? We recently heard this story, which came courtesy of the Boise, Idaho NPR station. The funniest things are occasionally true, true things are often funny. (At least we think they are.)

Of course, The Institute for Contemporary Panda Satire couldn’t sleep until we commented on this exciting bit of history.

And leave it to the vivd imagination of the panda kindergarten, to see a parallel between the 1948 Beaver Air-Drop and a possible solution to the current rat problem that new York City is facing.

Uh oh! It's the panda kindergarten and they have a plan!

Over here Mr. Kitty! We have a surprise for you!

Get Your Crayons Ready!

Why not buy that set of 128 colored pencils you’ve always wanted? The box of crayons with the built in sharpener. …the 164 color marker set with 35 different shades of…pink.

You know you want it.

And of course by “it” I am talking about the FINALLY  released The Panda Chronicles  Coloring Book!!!! Because, as we have recently learned, coloring books for grown-ups has become a “thing.” I hear it is almost as relaxing as watching panda videos.

Nooooo! Not the PINK crayon!

Nooooo! Not the PINK crayon! It’s here! Huzzah!

Get your crayons ready, because The Panda Chronicles Coloring Book is NOW READY for ordering! And during the rest of November, in honor of my birthday season, there is a 15% discount if you buy it from my Createspace store (just click the Createspace button on the book page) and insert this discount code in the appropriate box:

Huzzah!

Get your crayons ready!!!!

Meanwhile, Pinky seems to have hacked into my computer again. Now where did I put her mother’s  Me-phone number? I noticed that a large number of viewers came by on Sunday. Is it because you love Bubba, or is it that you like to see Pinky behaving badly. I’m waiting.

The Season of Cake Part Two

It is my Birthday Season, and that means it is the season of cake! I love cake. Did I mention that? Frosting should be declared a national treasure. Just saying.

I don’t have one of those skimpy one day birthdays. No, I have a birthday season. My birthday season lasts one day for each year old I am, and while I’m not going to reveal exactly how old I am, let’s just say that my birthday season is very, very, very, long. Certain parties, who shall not be named here, think it is entirely too long, and that maybe I should cut back to a birthday week, or at the very least, a birthday month.

Pah!

So today’s cartoon is about….

Cake.

Inspired by a TRUE story!

Inspired by a TRUE story!

Yes, It’s true! I heard about it on the internet, so it must be true. Mehitabel is such a spoil sport! I mean these guys are scientists!!!!!!

Well, I need to go…um…have some cake.

Be the Bear (and have cake!)

PS: I finally got that pesky Pinky header off of my cartoon! Who knows what trouble she will get into next!
