Friday already?

Fabulous Furry Friday seems to roll around faster and faster, doesn’t it? Hmmmm. we seem to be in a Pinky and Meihem twins mode this week, so lets just continue with that line of thought.

This cartoon was inspired by one of my friends (now in real life) Judy Young, of the infamous Pinky fan club, who gather sometimes daily at the National Zoo to observe the actual Bao Bao Princess Pinky panda, mostly climbing up the dreaded hemlock, but sometimes frolicking for the pandarazzi.  The photo that inspired this was not of Pinky, playing with bubbles, but a group of children having a blast blowing gigantic bubbles and chasing them over the grass. I though Pinky would enjoy this activity.

Oh dear....are you going to leave her there?

Oh dear….are you going to leave her there?

The next cartoon was inspired by an internet quiz, “What Kind of Cuppycake are You?” That’s easy.  One that’s got lots of …um…frosting.

I have extra frosting!

I have extra frosting!

Pinky will be back on Sunday! Don’t keep her waiting!

But who WOULDN’T want a picture with a panda?

I love my readers.

They send me links to stories about pandas, or about bears, or about totally unrelated things that might need to be addressed by panda satire. For instance, the woman who was stopped going through airport security because the frosting on her cuppycake weighed more than 3 ounces. I mean…wasn’t I OBLIGATED to write a cartoon about that?

well, if I can't carry it through security, can I eat it now?

well, if I can’t carry it through security, can I eat it now?

The other day, my friend and partner in cuppycake obsession, Vicky Vladic, sent me this story about tourism in Australia.  The funny thing is, the TV spot was generated in China. You know I had to do this cartoon:

Is this a film of the pandy kindy?

Is this a film of the pandy kindy?

:o)

The Pandapocalypse has arrived!

…and just in time for Fabulous Furry Friday, no less! Actually, someone has already snuck into the Pandapocalypse Now! stronghold over at Amazon and procured the first copy! Fess up! Who did that????

What’s that, you say? Is there a new Panda Chronicles Compendium perhaps? Why, yes, as a matter of fact there is, and it stars Princess Pinky and the Meihem twins!!! and the cover looks something like (OK, exactly like) this:

It's Pink, but still kinda, um...dangerous!

It’s Pink, but still kinda, um…dangerous!

From the very beginning of Pinky’s reign of terror in our nation’s capitol, until her very first birthday party, this volume celebrates all things Pinky and Meihem in a three ring circus pandapalooza. Like for instance….

I love a good art forgery, don't you?

Oh, those little scamps! “How does you spell ‘hostage’?”

Or how about the first appearance of the Meihems when they were teeny tiny little pandas?

The first appearance of the twinkies on The Panda Chronicles

The first appearance of the twinkies on The Panda Chronicles

I’m sure you will want your very own copy (hint, hint, wink, wink, nudge, nudge) so hop on over to the Pandapocalypse Now! page and scurry on over to Amazon  and get your own copy of The Panda Chronicles Book 5: Pandapocalypse Now!

Not since The Book of Wu have so many pandas behaved so badly. Huzzah!

Pandas are standing by to take your order. (And if you would like to support Pandas International with your purchase, I’ve been told that there is a program called Amazon Smile: just type “Amazon smile” in the search box and then you get to pick your non-profit, if I remember correctly. Once you’ve made that choice, Amazon remembers for future purchases.)

Our Story so Far: Inspector Panda…

…has an omniscient narrator! If you are just tuning in to our story, you can see links to all the earlier episodes here. Of course certain pandas who shall not be named here were a little bit (just the tiniest bit, you understand) miffed that they had not been included in the story, so we had to make someone the omniscient narrator.

And who gave Pinky her wand back?

And who gave Pinky her wand back?

Does Pinky know too much?

Does Pinky know too much?

As you can well imagine, we are pretty excited over here at the International Headquarters for The Institute of Contemporary Panda Satire, as we anticipate publication of The Panda Chronicles Book 5: Pandapocalypse NOW! starring none other than Princess Pinky and the Meihem twins! We are awaiting our proof copies, to make sure that the pictures aren’t put in sideways or anything like that. And because enquiring minds want to know, we will reveal the cover FIRST to my long suffering newsletter subscribers, so if you want to be the first on your block to know what the cover will look like, do sign up for the newsletter!

Here’s a link to the last recap, with episodes 1 through 10 . Here are episode 11, episode 12,  episode 13,  and episode 14, before moving on to today’s exciting episode!

Could that be the mysterious Babette de Panda? What does she want with Wu's tape?

Could that be the mysterious Babette de Panda? What does she want with Wu’s tape?

Will Mr. Wu be safe with the panda kindergarten? And just what's with that tape, anyway?

Will Mr. Wu be safe with the panda kindergarten? And just what’s with that tape, anyway?

How can we wait till the next exciting episode?

It may be some consolation that this Friday is International Talk Like a Pirate Day AND Saturday is International Red Panda Day! The panda are participating in ITLPD by featuring the Mr. Wu Pirate adventure in its entirety!!!!! Is that exciting, or what? And head over to V Something Speaks to see the special cartoon we did for Int. Red Panda Day, and learn more about red pandas! Huzzah!

The Scottish Pandas: Who will get custody?

This Thursday Scotland will vote on whether they want to be a nation independent from England. I don’t know what the benefits or hardships on either side would be, but that’s never stopped me from making fun of the process.  I realize that the custody of the Scottish pandas are a very minor issue in the question of a nation’s independence, but hey! Panda fans want to know!

If pandas don't ask this question, who will?

If pandas don’t ask this question, who will?

And what if Tian Tian (aka Sweetie) has a cub? Talk about a Royal Baby!

Meanwhile in the world of red pandas, friend and co-author Vicky Vladic has posted about International Red Panda Day, that is coming next week on September 20th (one day after International Talk Like a Pirate Day on September 19th!). Go right now and read about red pandas and you might find a new cartoon that has not been posted here yet. Huzzah!  You will also find a recipe from the upcoming Panda Chronicles Cuppycake CookBook for Red Panda Red Velvet Cuppycakes, a recipe that I am planning on trying really soon!

In addition to being International Talk Like a Pirate day, Friday September 19th is also the day I’ll be at the Freeland Branch of the Sno-Isle Library to talk about the Pandas of Pandamorphosis! If you will be on Whidbey Island at 11 AM  this Friday, check out the Sno-Isle website to get directions and come on by. I’ll be talking about um…pandas, and will have books available to sign for purchase. I promise I won’t talk like a pirate through the whole presentation.

A Sense of Deja Vu…

…wait, haven’t we been here before? or did we never leave? What with all the cake and partying amongst the younger set of pandas, we can hardly keep our hero’s whereabouts in our minds.  Mr. Wu traveled undercover to the National Zoo and the National Gallery to see if Babette’s (alleged) painting was there, but it was not to be found.

Hey! Are we being followed?

Hey! Are we being followed?

Art historicallizing makes me hungry too, not to mention sleepy. And who is that mysterious figure on the right? Is there some duplicity at work here? How will Inspector Panda and Mr Wu find the right museum with Babette’s (alleged) painting? How will they get there? Tune in next week for our next exciting episode of Inspector Panda and the Case of the Picturesque Panda!

Meanwhile, on the Pandamorphosis front,  it is now available on the Kindle as well as through iBooks. I’m a lover of print books, but I know that you more modern types like to have books on those little machines.  If you bought Pandmorphosis via Amazon as a print book, you can get it for your Kindle for only 99 cents. And if you want to access the books all in one spot, you can head over to my book page here! OK, enough with the commercials!

I hope you have all recovered from the cuteness overload that was Princess Pinky’s Birthday party.  Many thanks to my on the scene panda friends in Washington DC, who shared their fabulous pictures of the fuzzy birthday girl. Huzzah!

You Say it’s Your Birthday….

Oh my ears and whiskers! Princess Pinky’s fans have been at the zoo for HOURS, the cake has been licked and climbed upon, Pinky has opened her presents, and the forces of Meihem have been corralled (for the moment.)

Fortunately, Inspector Panda has his able assistant on the scene, working undercover.

The forces of Meihem are only barely in check.

The forces of Meihem are only barely in check.

Tune in tomorrow afternoon for the post party wrap up. (Is this any way to treat an icon?)

Hey, I almost forgot! You can still get the ibook version of Pandamorphosis for FREE through the weekend! Here’s the link. Woo hoo!

Holy cuppycakes, Batman, It’s Birthday Eve!

Yes, it is Fabulous Furry Friday , and rather than our usual practice of running an …ahem…encore presentation, in honor of Princess Pinky Bao Bao’s first birthday eve, we have a
Brand.
New.
Cartoon!

That’s correct, panda fans, because we think you deserve the best! So, without further ado, here is Princess Pinky’s Birthday Eve ‘toon:

Is this any way to treat our Nation's most adorable icon?

Is this any way to treat our Nation’s most adorable icon?

And yes, a birthday (actual day of) cartoon is in the works.  I’ll…sigh…be home here working…while all of you are drinking bootinis, eating cuppycakes, dancing on the table with pandas, off in Washington DC…sigh..really, don’t give it another thought…

Be the …sigh…bear
Bob T. Panda

And…um…by the way.. while I wait for final approval to actually SELL Pandamorphosis as an iBook, you can download it for FREE, yes, you heard that right. Go to your iBook store and get your copy, and if you are in the mood, slip me a few stars if you like it. :o) (for iPad and other IOS devices and Macs : Kindle version coming soon!)

Don’t Get Mad, Get Panda

So…

You may remember a little incident earlier this year, when Pinky used her computer skills to close all the highways leading to Zoo Atlanta, and re-route them to the National Zoo in Washington DC? And it really messed up the Meihem twins’ (Bert and Ernie) Panda Scout cookie sale? And then Inspector Panda showed up and made things worse?

Well! As they say, revenge is a dish best served cold.

If you think that maybe elephants never forget, they have nothing on pandas.

If you think that maybe elephants never forget, they have nothing on pandas.

Pinky never should have messed with the Meihems! Tune in again tomorrow as we bring you more of the Best of Pinky to celebrate Princess Pinky Pandas birthday week!

And a note to my book buying fans, I just started work on organizing cartoons for the next Panda Chronicle book, Book 5: Pandapocalypse Now! which features Pinky and the Meihems! Huzzah! My cunning plan is to be done with all the work of formatting the book by mid September, which means it will be available for your holiday shopping.  Huzzah!

I also plan to get back on the newsletter routine, at which I have been woefully inadequate  these last few months, so if you are not already signed up, now is the time, because I will have some fun news to announce and I am going to do it there first!  So if you want to be able to say “nyah, nyah, I already knew all about that,” get yourself up to the top of the right hand column and sign yourself up where it says, “Get Even More Pandas” ‘Kay?
