Huzzah! A proof with all the pages in the correct direction!

We at the Institute for Contemporary Panda Satire are particularly pleased to announce that the final proof for Book One of the Panda Chronicles has finally been printed with all the pages in the correct order.

Perhaps this was the problem:

Was the panda kindergarten in charge of setting up the proofs for Bob’s book?

Stay tuned for updates on the book’s progress, as well as more from the campaign trail!  (yes, we know the election is over in the real world, but Bob – and more importantly, Babette – is not ready to concede defeat.

It’s beginning to look a lot like pandas…..

I know that it is not even Halloweenie here at the Institute for Contemporary Panda Satire, but I thought you might like to know that our friends at Pandas International (real people supporting REALPandas) have selected one of my cartoons to grace their annual holiday card offering that you can get to send to all your many friends and relations, AND help pandas (real pandas, that is) at the same time!  How cool is that?

“why do I always get so kerfuffled when it comes to decorating for the holidays?”

Just think how happy your friends will when they open their mailbox and find an actual card from a real person instead of another bill or political announcement.  Pandas are standing by at Pandas International to take your call!

Thanks for Being the Bear!

Don’t look now, Babette, but Bee, (the Bear) is nipping at your heels.

One of the fun thing about making comics, is creating characters and their “back stories.”  Babette de Panda is actually not my invention at all, but she has come to the enchanted bamboo forest where she hangs out with Bob T., Mehitabel and  the panda kindergarten. By generous permission of her very good friend and confidant, Victory Schouten, (poet Laureate of Greenbank Farm, and co-owner of the Rob Schouten Gallery) Babette appears in my cartoons. I hope (and have reason to believe) that the in stories that she appears in, I have kept her character in tact, and had her act in ways that are consistent with what I know of her.

Sometimes I find myself just “going along for the ride” with the pandas and don’t always feel that I am in control of their actions, especially when the panda kindergarten is involved.

What could be more fun than a car full of pandas?

Recently a new panda showed up on my doorstep (or was that in my head?) and here is what I know about her.  She is a member of the incoming class in panda kindergarten, She is a little shy, but very precocious. Oh, and she likes to dress up like a bee.  And now, she has insinuated herself into an island business, Eddy’s on Whidbey, where she will start appearing on tee-shirts and other things.  She is just buzzing with excitement.  She also has a poster already and that is more than Babette can say. (and don’t think I haven’t gotten an earful on THAT matter!)

I hope you will give a warm welcome to:

I was out of the the den…um… office

Sorry to be so lax in creating new cartoons! I was attending top secret high level meetings among the panda-ratti in Washington DC last week and so my campaign for Panda in Chief is seriously behind schedule.  Never fear!  I’ve been writing, if not drawing story lines for the new cartoons which I will get on immediately (well, later today, anyway)

To whet your appetite for the upcoming Panda-dential campaign, here are the first of the panda debates from the panda-primary to see what panda would represent us in the general election.

Is it really all black and white?

Till next time!

The Panda Kindergarten is now in session….

I always like September, well, at least now that I don’t actually HAVE to go back to school, that is, but it still, oh these many years later, (don’t ask) gives me a burst of energy to get back into the studio and actually get something done. The panda kindergarten is no exception and they absolutely PROMISE to be much better behaved this year. (Although I think I saw some paws crossed behind their backs when they said that.)

Meanwhile, back at the Kickstarter ranch, we are at 86% with only 6 days to go!  For those of you not following or yet on board with the Kickstarter project (ahem) hope you will check it out, because we have big, pandy plans here at the Institute for Contemporary Panda Satire!  I’d like to unveil the third in the triumvirate of panda posters (starting with “30 days of Pandas,” moving on to “Bee, the Bear,” and now we present:

Fezbook: The Mobile App!

What could be more fun than a car full of pandas?

and now, for our “back to school cartoon feature”, we present the panda kindergarten in “Classroom Follies!”

Huzzah!

To Bee, or not to Bee…that is the bear!

The path of creativity is usually a twisting path.  You just never know what thing you see or read or hear, that will spark a connection, and I am no exception to this process.  For instance, my Scottish Panda cartoons, which had some Shakespearian inspiration, in turn sparked my brother’s imagination and resulted in his 31 plays in 31 days project, The Scottish Panda Plays.

When David Neel Of Island Apiaries offered an add on bonus of honey to my Kickstarter project (now in it’s last 6 days! Visit it before it’s too late!) I started thinking about bees and bears and how they both started with the letter ‘B’ and came up with Bee, the Bear.  (OK, it seemed like an obvious connection to me!) Bee was an instant hit when I posted her picture on facebook and so I decided (well, actually, she insisted) to make a poster for her.

Bee, the Bear.

Meanwhile our Kickstarter project is at 80% with only 6 more days to go!  If you’ve already supported it, many, many thanks (and tell all your humor loving friends) and if you haven’t you know what to do!

Bears in space! To the moon, Alice!

There are so many great quotes that came out of the space program, and at least several, if not more, came out of the Apollo Space Program. In our final tribute to the late Neil Armstrong, we bring you Pandas in Space!

Danger Bob T. Panda, Danger!

(But first we pause for an important message!:

one giant panda for mankind!

Also, I wanted to let you know that the folks at Pandas International (the real one, not the one I made up) have agreed to write an afterword about saving pandas (real ones, not the ones I make up) for my book.  How cool is that?
