Oh dear.  Mr wu is diving right in to say the least.

Hope you enjoy this episode of It’s a WUnderful Life, starring Mr Wu, Bee the bear and more besides!

If I can get all my other work done today, there may be a special edition of the Panda Chronicles tonight.

But only if you’ve been very, VERY good.

It's a wonderful life

Wu is a good bear at heart….

Stay tuned!

Day 23: It’s a WUnderful Life, isn’t it?

Today marks the start of a soon to be holiday classic! One that you will want to watch every year, just like some of those other holiday classics that turn up every year around now.  I am, of course, speaking of our new feature adventure, starring the one and only, Mr Wu!

Hold on to your cuppycakes because you won’t want to miss a single minute of It’s a Wunderful Life!

(editor’s note: This series contains extreme melodrama, existential dilemmas and not a little bit of out and out pathos. Please don’t yell at me.)

it's a wonderful life

Thank goodness Bee the Bear still has her magical wand from the last adventure.

Oh dear, we know where this is going, kinda sorta, don’t we?

Be the Bear,
Bob T Panda

Day 22: Princess Pinky is a STAR!

But you already knew that, didn’t you?  Well, now it’s official, at least according to Smithsonian Magazinewhere Princess Pinky Bao Bao is this month’s cover girl. And in her Princess Pinky fashion, she demanded a cartoon to commemorate the occasion.

A girl’s gotta do, what a girl’s gotta do, and that applies equally to mama pandas.

Beware, the power of the paw!

Don’t you just hate it when your mom hides your important stuff?

Well, we have just 9 more days remaining in our 31 Days of Pandas series, and we are going to wind up the year with a short feature presentation, It’s a WUnderful Life! Tune in tomorrow for the first episode.

Thank you, to everyone who has joined in with the panda fun! I am so glad you have come along for the ride.

Peace be with you, embrace your inner panda, and keep being the bear.

Day 21: The wait is over! the finale of the Wizard of Wu

Hard to believe this adventure started all the way back in September, but there you have it! It’s all over but the flashbacks! And now, for the final episode of The Wizard of Wu!

finale of wizard of wu

All well that ends well. Now let’s have some cuppycakes!!!

See, I told you that I wouldn’t do anything dastardly to Mr Wu.  But will we let Mr Wu just relax at home and eat cuppycakes and drink hot cocoa with his mom and the twinkies (not to mention Princess Pinky, who is NOT a bear to be messed with!)?

No, we will not! Tune in Monday for episode 1 of It’s a WUnderful Life, starring, (of course,) Mr wu and all your favorite pandas!

And if you haven’t bought YOUR copies of all the Panda Chronicles books, what are ya waiting for? They make great presents for anyone on your gift list (including yourself!)

31 days of pandas continues tomorrow!

Day 18: We Have You Now, Mr Wu!

I can’t look.

Will someone tell me when the scary part is over?

The panda kindergarten captures Mr Wu

Evilness is one thing, but there must be snacks!

The panda kindergarten MUST be under a spell from the Wicked Witch, don’t you think?

Tune in Tomorrow!

Beig the Bear,
Bob T. Panda

Day 17: Bring Me the Slippers!

The Wizard of Wu is in it’s final week and it’s all Wu all the time, and excitement doesn’t begin to cover it! Oh my ears and whiskers, things are getting exciting here at The Panda Chronicles!

The wicked witch has sent her hench-pandas out to capture Wu, so that she can get the magical bunny slippers. I did promise there would be NO flying monkeys, but I didn’t promise there would be no monkey business!

the wicked witch unleashes the flying monkeys

Ride you pandas! Ride! An evil wind breaks!

Don’t move from your computer because another episode of the Wizard of Wu will be here tomorrow! Stay right there! We’re (and by “we” I mean the NSA) watching.

Be the Bear!

Day 16: Don’t leave the newest Atlanta Belles out of the fashion parade!

Oh dear, new wardrobes, new names, what’s a panda to do?  Lun Lun claims that she knew all along, and I, for one believe her. (Never argue with a full grown mama panda!)

Editor’s Note: after consultation with several fans and noted pandologists, it has been determined that changing the twinkies on screen names here could cause grave psychological damage to their personalities. Therefore, since Bert and Ernie could be nicknames for Roberta and Ernestine, I have decided to let their cartoon identities stand.  Plus then I don’t have to go in and change their names on the paper dolls. Just ignore the monograms on todays uniforms. These were hand me downs from older pandas. (Why changing their name would be more traumatic than changing their gender, is a mystery for the pandologists.)

“I couldn’t understand why those silly humans didn’t see it all along,” said Lun Lun in a recent ZooNooz interview. “Anyone could see how my sweet Po had my beautiful fluffy cheeks! The twins are too young to be traumatized by the misidentification, but I worry about my darling Po in her new life in China.  Some girls can be so mean.”

Stay tuned for future panda satire on the subject of incorrect gender identification amongst pandas! Fun!

Meanwhile, may we make a helpful suggestion to aid your holiday shopping? The Panda Chronicle’s three books are all available on Amazon (not to mention Moonraker Books in Langley!) Huzzah!

Back to the drawing board! Panda satire waits for no bear.

Day 15: Princess Pinky takes responsibility

The recent news of not one but THREE “gender re-classifications” has us so excited at The Institute for Contemporary Panda Satire! Ideas are rampaging through our skulls at a breakneck pace. We can hardly write one idea down before another one springs to mind.  We plan to spread them out over the next month or two, as we have much seasonally relevant material already planned.  Just hold that thought….

Pinky is VERY powerful. Be afraid, be very afraid, Mr Wu.

And we did not forget another outfit for Princess Pinky! Perish the thought.

Just the thing for family parties!

Hope everyone is having a restful weekend.  Unless of course you are working, shopping, or keeping up on the latest panda world scandals! Huzzah!

Day 14: Oh Atlanta, hear me calling…

Well.

You knew I was going to have to come up with a response to the astounding news out of Zoo Atlanta yesterday morning, didn’t you?  What? You haven’t heard?

Well.

It turns out that not one, not two, but THREE pandas born at Zoo Atlanta had gender misidentifications.  Actually, that’s really four, since first born Atlanta panda Mei Lan was thought to be female until reaching the age of five when they discovered: wait no! it’s a boy.

Now, it turns out that not only the twinkies are girls instead of the “absolute, no mistake here” gender identification as boys, but also, three year old Po is female as well.  I always thought that Po was a particularly pretty panda, but really, we all kind of look alike, so what do I know?  Needless to say, it was quite the chatty day in the pandasphere!

panda cub gender switch

We would like to thank Zoo Atlanta for providing us with new material for WEEKS to come!

Meanwhile did any of them think about ME and all the work I would have to do, new names for Bert and Ernie, (front runners: Thelma and Louise), new wardrobes, going back and drawing eyelashes on the previous drawings of the twins…it’s not like I don’t have enough to do already!  Zoo officials have no idea how time consuming panda satire is!

If you missed the earlier “expose`” about the gender reassigning of Mei Lan, here it is: Huzzah!

Well, we do all look alike.

Love the hat!

Tomorrow! a new outfit for Princess Pinky! (at last!)
