Episode 5: 101 Bebe Panda-Nations

Oh, this is getting so so SO scary! Almost flying monkey scary; almost Congress voting to take away our healthcare scary! Okay, nothing could be THAT scary, but still….

Things are getting real here!

When trouble arrives, it’s time to call for some MEIHEM!!!!!

Day 5: 31 Days of Pandas

Oh what a tangled web Wu did weave,
When with the panda kindergarten
He did deceive
His mom, who took such good care,
Ot the adorable Wu Bear

I’m ready for my Nobel prize in poetry!

Whatever could be in the box the panda kindergarten is delivering to Mr. Wu?

Will the panda kindergarten get it put together before Bai Yun gets home?

“Up in the Air, Junior Pandas…”

And what better gift for the Wu lover in your life than the collected stories of Mr. Wu, Volume 4 of The Panda Chronicles: The Book of Wu, available right here at this link! Tis the season to give the gift of pandas!

Day 4: 31 Days of Pandas

Yes, yes, I said 31 Days of Pandas will be ALL about Mr. Wu, but Things are Happening and they must be commented upon! So I hope you will forgive me for sharing some of last years ‘toons from around this time, if only to remind ourselves that we saw the train wreck coming and did not get out of the way.

But not too many, because, you know, it will make us sad and scared.

people are saying

Pay us enough money and we’ll say just about anything!

cat came back

Is it just my imagination or does Mittens look even more crazed than before?

Okay, Okay! Now as an antidote, we move on the the adorable Wu Self!!!

Yo ho ho and a bottle of BooBeer!

“You are right and Wu is wrong…I’ll never do it again, mommy.”

Did we mention you could visit Mr. Wu at the 2018 Panda Convention?

And since it is the Season to Give the Gift of Pandas, may we respectfully suggest that nothing makes people happier than pandas, and what could be better than a seasonal Panda mug?

Have yourself a Pandy little Christmas…

Panda On, as best we can!

Part 4: 101 Bebe Panda-Nations and day 3 of 31 Days of Pandas

The Internet may become the playground of the wealthy and the republicans may have already passed their most inhumane tax “reform” bill, so all I can do is keep drawing pandas until they drag me off to whatever subversive artist’s prisons they can devise.

But meanwhile, trouble is afoot, because where Babette steps her fashionable paws, chaos and infamy are sure to follow.

It’s time for the next episode of 101 Bebe Panda-Nations!!!

Uh oh.

Day 2: 31 Days of Pandas

Today we start with the baby Wu stories! These are some of my favorites, as they were the first time I realized the joy of creating alternate characters for actual real pandas! Sooooo, in that sense, Pinky’s persona is all Mr. Wu’s fault!

Am I right?

This was the very first Mr. Wu ‘toon!

Mr. Wu made many cameo appearances before he started appearing in feature stories.

“Wu calls his dance, ‘Ode to a Weaf’ ” The real life Mr. Wu had great fun playing with leaves, which inspired this ‘toon.

Thank you all for coming! Buy my book here!

Tune in tomorrow for the next episode of 101 Bebe Panda-Nation!

The Dramatic Finale: The Wizard of Wu!

Let’s just cut to the chase, shall we? They’re not flying monkeys, but they are kind of scary! (NOBODY expects the panda kindergarten!)

I just love this part of the story! Look out, Wu!

Wizard of Oz spoof

But we’ve come such a long way already….Bwahahaha!

the wicked witch unleashes the flying monkeys

Ride you pandas! Ride!

The panda kindergarten captures Mr Wu

Evilness is one thing, but there must be snacks!

escape from the wicked witch

Well,lookee here! isn’t that….?

Return to the wizard

Don’t mess with Princess Pinky!

Holiday Encore Presentation: The Wizard of Wu

Okay! Ebbryone have their popcorn? Your blankie to hide under? Okay then! Without further fuss, it’s time for the next installment of….

The Wizard of Wu!!!!!

Mr Wu landas in the cuppycake region of pandyland in this episode of his new adventure

Don’t I know you from somewhere?

Mehitabel would like to register her protest about given the least sympathetic role in this adventure.

Is Pinky casting envious glances at Bee, The Bear’s magical wand?

Xiao Liwu has to journey to see the wizard

Okay, now it’s getting exciting! Scary parts dead ahead!

Mr Wu meets up with someone who looks a lot like his brother, shortly after setting out on his journey

I have a bad feeling about this….

Mr Wu hears a cry for help

Are you SURE there will be no flying monkeys? And Mr. Toasty is right! Who DOESN’T like bagels!

Tune in again on Sunday for the exciting conclusion of the All pandas Eve story, and next Friday for the conclusion of The Wizard of Wu!

Panda on and pass the candy corn!

Have a fabulous Furry Friday!

It’s time for another Holiday Classic: The Wizard of Wu!

Every time I reread The Wizard of Wu, I am enchanted all over again! I remember watching The Wizard of Oz every year around Halloween, and I was always terrified by the flying monkeys, by the evilness of the wicked Witch of the West, the whole idea that you could be whisked away by a tornado and wake up in a frightening new world.

So, after our re-broadcast of A Halloween Carol, I thought we should also have an encore presentation of that other holiday classic, The Wizard of Wu, for our Fabulous Furry Friday presentations! (Be on the look out for some cameo appearances for the newest junior pandas on the US panda scene!)

Huzzah!

where happy pandas eat bamboo, oh why, oh why, can’t…Wu?

We’re in for it now, Binky!

Hang on to your hats, kids, it’s gonna be a bumpy ride!

I don’t think we’re in Pandiego any more, Binky….

What could be waiting outside? Where the heck ARE we, Binky?

Tomorrow is Mr. Wu’s Birthday

It’s almost here! The very Wu Self’s actual birthday and the party is just about to begin! There are piles of cuppycakes on the tables and Bai Yun is looking serene and radiant…at least till cousin Pinky gets there!

By the way, the story of my journey into panda satire is now a public page, so you can read and get caught up on all the pandas you need to know! Originally, this was given as a talk to the 2016 Panda Convention at the San Diego Zoo, called From Panapiphany to Princess Pinky.

But now, let’s revisit some of my favorite Wu ‘toons in preparation for his birthday tomorrow!

Don’t you love “rear shots” of baby pandas?

Whatever could be in the box the panda kindergarten is delivering to Mr. Wu?

Will the panda kindergarten get it put together before Bai Yun gets home?

“Up in the Air, Junior Pandas…”

Nothing like a snappy graphic to um…solve a problem!

May Day! May Day!

Mr wu’s cousin, da Sooperpanna, appears courtesy of Bruce Sebring, creator of the Sooperpanna Chronicles

Bet ya didn’t see this coming…or maybe you did.

I just had to include something with that provocative “rear panda view” you know!

If you enjoyed this Mr. Wu adventure story, there are more where that came from in The Panda Chronicles Book 4: The Book of Wu! You can find it here!

Princess Pinky and the Meihems (yes, and Bubba too) will return on sunday in their feature presentations, Being Endangered is SUCH a Curse!

It’s Mr Wu’s Birthday Week

Huzzah, Huzzah! We are taking a little time out from Pinky’s latest adventure story, in order to celebrate the birthday week of one of our favorite (one might say NO 1 Favorite!) young pandas. Xiao Liwu, nicknamed Mr. Wu by his keeper nannies, is the last of Bai Yun’s six cubs. He was born in 2012 and turns five years old and he is still here! (Don’t tell! Maybe they will forget he is still living in Pandiego and not in China!) I have read reports that he will be here until sometime in 2018, but one never knows!

Meanwhile, I thought I would celebrate his birthday week with a brand new Wu ‘toon!

Happy Birthday week Mr. Wu! I’m sure your mom won’t do anything to embarrass you on the internet!

birthday week

It’s so hard to be cool when you still live with your mom.

(and if you want to see the video that so embarrassed the Wu Self, see it here!) And as Mr. Wu said, “wif all dat measuring, you would fink da wu self would get a tux or somefing.”
