Hey, it’s the Ides of March today, March 15th! I’m not entirely sure what the reference is from, but I think it might be something Shakespearean.

With that in mind…

After all, the playings the thing….

As people hunker down into self isolation or quarantine, it has been suggested that you read or watch something funny or uplifting to counter each thing you read about COVID19 or HWMNBN.

We are sailing in uncharted waters. All schools in Washington State are closed, people are being asked to self isolate, voluntarily for now. I’m doing what I can to say home (actually, pretty easy as I work at home) and not amass ridiculous quantities of toilet paper and canned soup. (I do need to up my frosting supply! I need to keep my strength up!)

For now, the best service I can provide to humanity is to share funny stuff, so here we go!

Introducing…Ruth Panda Ginsbear

I’ve been having so much fun making Felty pandas, which has the added benefit of keeping me off the streets and out of the bars. Not that I usually go to bars, but you know what I mean. Anyway, one of the Friends of the Felty Pandas (or FFPs for short) said, you really should make a Ruth Bader Ginsberg panda. I thought about it for a while, till I figured out how I could make her glasses and robe, with as little sewing as possible, and finally came of with:

Pinky Has a Plan For Dat!

The field for the Democratic primaries is narrowing. I know who I want to win and I guess we’ll just have to see who is still standing after Tuesday’s super dooper primary day. I know what Pinky would tell you:

I know nothing! Nothing, I tell you!

For those who have asked, I’m alive and well and so far the coronavirus has not hit Whidbey’s shores, at least not to my knowledge. It does seem to be fairly widespread in western WA, however, so it is just a matter of time. I’m doing all the sensible things, washing my paws (with soap and water! Don’t just lick them!), staying out of crowded places (as if there are any here) and trying to get enough rest, and eat plenty of frosting. Um…that was one of the important things, isn’t it?

I also stocked up on felting supplies and canned soup! I could stay home for weeks if I had to. I hope the virus is staying away from you too.

Doctor, Doctor, Give me the News

…I got a bad case of coronavirus blues!

Fortunately no (known) cases exist on Whidbey Island but I’m doing all the sensible things: staying home as much as possible (kind of easy when you are self employed and work from home), stocking up on supplies (both food and felty pandas), and watching lots of panda videos!

Speaking of felty pandas…

I am working through each group of felty panda rewards from my Kickstarter project, and will have all of them out to their new homes probably within the next 8 weeks. This is actually far ahead of schedule, for which we can thank HWMNBN for creating such an atmosphere of dire foreboding that relief through felty panda making is essential.

There has been some interest from people who either missed the Kickstarter project, or now that they have received their new felty friends, they want the rest of the characters. Once I finish with the Kickstarter pandas, I will open up to new orders, so please hold that thought. I don’t want to take a chance on requests getting lost in the shuffle.

In the meantime, did someone call for a doctor?

There is way too much news in the news these last weeks, if you know what I mean. HWMNBN wants to sue the NYT for…um…telling too much truth? The purge of loyalists to the Constitution and the rule of law has begun…

The primary races have started, HWMNBN is going full speed ahead, throwing babies off trains, blasting daycare centers with flame throwers, and throwing anyone who disagrees with him in front of the bus, let alone under it. Several of his previously fired minions have come crawling back..what? Wasn’t the fluffy green shirt on Dancing with the Stars humiliating enough, Sean?

Meanwhile, the Dems are debating each other and trying to score hits with clever talking points. I know who I want to win. it’s still early days yet. Maybe they should all take some debate prep from Pinky!

Let’s take a trip down memory lane from panda debates past! Let’s start with 2012!

PS: felty pandas are already traveling out into the world! If you missed your chance via Kickstarter, never fear! I’ll be offering them here in a couple months, once I get all the Kickstarter pandas out the door! What with the election induced stress levels I am experiencing, not to mention HWMNBN’s reign of terror, we will all need comfort felty pandas!

That’s right! Welcome to another episode of Bear Talk! Those lovable grizzly bears, Frank and Mikey are back! (you can’t keep a good bear down!)

But first, I want to congratulate the folks that work at Kickstarter for successfully organizing and forming a union. Kickstarter has been the home to various projects of mine sine 2012 when I launched my first project. Since then, it’s allowed me to focus my energy to do 8 projects to bring more panda fun to you! It is a company that was formed with the excellent mission and intent, to help creative project creators bring their projects to life. The people who work there should have the same agency and rights as the creators they help, to have their work valued and their voices heard.

Meanwhile, Frank and Mikey have some things to say about the NooZ of the day!
